1971 Fiat 850 COUPE

CAR IS LOCATED IN CHARLOTTE, NC. TITLE IS IN MY NAME AND CLEAR. I PURCHASED THIS FROM THE SECOND OWNER WHO HAD IT FOR 30 YEARS!!!!! He took very good care of it aside from not having it fully enclosed...he always parked it under a 3 closed sided carport. Last inspection from 1986 by original owner, 2nd owner kept it going from 1986 forward by cranking it up every now and again and driving it around his neighborhood until I bought it. I am still in touch with him and will pass along info to winning bidder if desired.
You can use this as is, do a few very simple repairs and start enjoying it now. If you choose....this is probably the best candidate you are going to find to commission a proper full restoration...as it is solid, preserved and all original, even the paint! Interior is in amazing condition.
You are bidding on one 1971 Fiat 850 Coupe. 903cc Engine, 4 speed. VIN# 100GBC10365389. Car has 31K miles and is ALL ORIGINAL!!! VINTAGE KONI HEAVY D SHOCKS! I have the lower aluminum trim piece for the passenger side, it is in good condition, just need the clips to mount it. Interior is in IMMACULATE condition. Car runs like a sewing machine and drives great. Cranks up first try every time. There is ZERO floor rot, rockers are solid. SEE PHOTOS. A little rust in front pan under spare tire and a spot below the windshield/passenger front fender area. Battery box has some corrosion but holds battery fine. There may be a very small spot of rust through, maybe 2mm on the rear of driver rocker....All other rust is surface and cosmetic only. Underneath headlights and wheel wells are 100% solid. This was a problem area on these cars as well as the floors. The silver "touch-up" paint you see here and there was applied by the owner of 25 years to treat any surface rust that popped up. You can see it mostly in the bonnet area. All electrics working with exception of one running light on driver fender. NEW BATTERY, CARB REBUILT, PLUGS, BAYLESS AIR FILTER, CAP, ROTOR, FUEL FILTER.

Body is straight as an arrow except for a couple of spots ( SEE BODY DETAILS, DOCUMENTING THESE AREAS). Bumpers are shiny and laser straight. Car has NEVER been wrecked. Engine runs incredibly smooth with no issues, see photos of valvetrain which show incredibly clean and low mileage engine. Original air cleaner was replaced with a BAYLESS style. If you really have to have the original air cleaner...I may have one I can round up for winning bidder. Mechanical fuel pump has been replaced with electric pump. Tires are old but hold air and are fine for neighborhood driving.
There are a few items that need to be tended to to make it a daily driver. Gas tank needs to be removed/cleaned and sealed. I have it running off an auxiliary tank at the moment which is not included in auction. One could continue to use an auxiliary tank if desired. The front brake calipers need to be rebuilt as the passenger side grabs(easy job) or simply switch over to 124 calipers (this is an easy direct bolt-on swap). Rear brakes and E-Brake work well. The passenger side axle seal has a leak. Easy fix as well. IF THE CAR DOES NOT SELL FOR WHAT I PREFER, I WILL FIX THESE MINOR ISSUES AND RELIST FOR CONSIDERABLY MORE. OK, here are the details:
BODY: Accident free and in amazing condition. All panel gaps correct, bumpers laser straight and shiny. All glass is excellent. All weatherstripping in good condition. There is surface rust only on the body except for the area below the passenger side bottom corner of windsheild. This is the ONLY area of structural rust I can find on the car. There is a small dent below driver door handle, hard to get to show up on camera. One other small dent on top of front passenger fender...also very small, your local paintless dent repair could take this out. SEE PHOTOS. The paint is 100% ORIGINAL, ZERO filler...anywhere. It is dull but could be polished out if one desires.
ENGINE: See photos of valvetrain and sparkplugs!!! Very clean and well maintained obviously. Plugs show a perfect burn pattern across the board. Engine runs amazing, idles perfect as 31K motor should.No leaks except a small seep from the radiator hose leading to the heater core....I just need to change the original hose clamp and it would stop. NEW PLUGS, ROTOR, FUEL FILTER and aftermarket electric fuel pump. Carb has been rebuilt.
ELECTRICAL: EVERYTHING is working. One driving light bulb is burnt out on driver front fender. All gauges, lights, etc...in functioning order. NEW BATTERY!!!
INTERIOR: Simply amazing. A true time capsule. Only thing messed up is the turn signal stalk is partially broken....still works fine. Everything else is present and in amazing condition!!!
CHASSIS: Solid as can be. All suspension points and jack points solid. There is surface rust on some of the suspension components. As stated, the front brake calipers will need attention to drive daily. They work, but passenger side grabs and locks up sometimes...brakes do work...just not as they should. Rear brakes work as well as E-Brakes. The gas in the tank is bad and tank will need to be removed, cleaned and sealed. As stated, I have this running on an auxiliary front tank setup that is not included in auction.
