1979 Ferrari 308 308 GTS

Introduced at the Paris Motor Show in 1975 as a replacement to the 246 Dino, he Pininfarina designed 308 GTB was stunning in all new body work showing similar shapes and angles to its big brother the Boxer. The 308 carried a 2.9 litre DOHC eight cylinder engine with four Weber carburetors amidship which was the same layout that was used in the Boxer. The GTS model was introduced for model year 1977 and became the most popular of the two models offered. Ferrari had to keep up with strict emission regulations through the late 1970’s and for model year 1980 introduced fuel injection to the 308. The 308 by this point had become a little heavier and power had dropped to a mere 205hp. It was not until the 1983 model year that Ferrari introduced the 308QV which gave a stronger engine with more power and added four valves per cylinder. The 308 soldiered on until 1985 when it was replaced by a very similar 328. The iconic style of the 308 is one of the most recognized Ferrari’s ever produced and the early carbureted models have become the most sought after.
