Description:

1959 Edsel Ranger Interceptor/ always Private owned

Vehicle is one Family owned, From the Father that bought it new in 1962 in Fitzgerald, Ga handed to his son whom passed away and the grandson of the man that bought it new is a cousin of a close friend that sold it to me. The Son used the vehicle as his personal and Ben Hill & Tift County Georgia Sheriffs Patrol Cruiser. Probably the only one with a straight 6 cyl. But all is documented and a written history of the vehicle will go along with the vehicle which explains how the two passenger windows were cracked. The son had the CB Radio Handle (NAME) of "The General" and I forget what Kennesaw, GA had to do with that but its in the story that was given to me by the Grandson.

I bought the vehicle from the estate and didn't know much bout Edsel except they were Ugly and Rare. Now owning my very own Edsel I became interested in the company and story as well as the vehicle I just purchased. We pulled it out of a barn literally and hauled it home. A true barn find. We have replaced many parts from the borg warner Transmission which were in the Studebaker business and fortunately we had one accessible. We replaced, engine & transmission mounts, New Interstate Battery, New Alternator (converted from Generator by original owners we just replaced it for a new one), replaced charging system wiring, full tune up from coil, plugs, plug wires, distributor, cap & button, had radiator completely gone through, sealed and pressure checked with new cap. Adjusted carburetor.

I've been driving it around and it's great no fit in town even had it on the highway up to 70 mph. It needs a few things to be ideal to drive daily and it's a 20 footer. I would recommend having the break system checked, it stops fine but I can feel it pulling to one wheel more but nothing is locked, smoking or any signs of anything major or significant. I recommend fixing the 3 door locks but my dad says they just need greased up that all the components are there and not lose. The radio lights up but no sound, the engine temp gauge isn't registering but digitally we've checked it and it's normal. There's some rattles from the front suspension more than likely ball joints or tie rods wore out. I had it at a buddies shop to adjust the carb and everything seemed pretty well to him. You'll probably want to replace the original carpet it's not any good. The rest of the interior is nice specially the seats are like new but original. All windows open and close it also has chrome vent visors. The right front and left rear window have cracks but are completely fine and been that way since the 70s or 80s. It's has a front left lower fender repair by the door behind the tire I would leave like it is unless you plan on a full restoration. The hood hinges froze up at one time I assumed and caused a crease on the passenger side of the hood. I can probably get the hinges for $100-$150 plus shipping. I have all the keys original lots of other documents. I am selling through my business (dealership) so you'll have a bill of sale in lieu of title, Georgia doesn't hold Titles on older vehicles, again no title but it'll legally be yours and you can register it easy. The car doesn't use or burn oil to my knowledge and runs incredible. The car was mounted with a cb radio, sliding locks, siren, pa, horn and lights which we removed and disposed of some components since they were no longer repairable and the wiring wasn't good to those accessories.

A Portion of the final sale is going to St. Judes childhood cancer researchwhich EBAY makes it easy for me to transfer the fund through this transaction. As a Father I love my Kids, I would do anything for themor for anotherkidand couldn't bear the thought of going through what so many Families go through with childhood cancer. St. Jude is a great facility and Ill feel proud to donate a portion of the proceeds.
