Description:

1953 Dodge M43

I am almost 82 years old! The wife says all projects must go and this vehicle is one of many! I am computer/technologically challenged, therefore I would prefer dealing directly with prospective buyers by phone at 405-612-1932 when you have any questions. I would prefer no emails, phone messages or texts as I really am techno-phobic! Or just leave me a return phone number. In fact, my wife does all this typing for me!
PLEASE, JUST REMEMBER THAT THIS IS A LEGAL, BINDING CONTRACT IF YOU ARE THE FINAL BIDDER! PLEASE BID ONLY IF YOU INTEND TO WIN. THANKS!
I can provide assistance to help load this vehicle for transport if necessary, but all arrangements for shipping or pick up must be made by the buyer. I can provide names of transport companies we have used and each has been excellent.
Also, for payment, I would prefer dealing with the buyer personally rather than going through Pay Pal if at all possible. Pay Pal takes too long to get your money and they take too big a fee. My preference is electronic bank to bank wire transfer.
Remember, I will be available to answer any questions with any interested bidder by phone. Just call me at 405-612-1932 anytime between 7:00 am till 10:00 pm CST, 7 days a week.
Bidders should be aware that this vehicle is being listed in other venues.
I bought this Dodge truck M-43 Ambulance out of Texas from a man who was going to use it to tow his dirt car about 39 miles back and forth to a Dallas Dirt Track. After he had it delivered to his home, he hooked up his race car to the rig but soon found out it would only run about 45 mph. After 10 minutes, he turned around & started home. Within a few miles, the small motor, which now started to knock, blew up.
The gearing in the Dodge's deferentials, both front & rear, was 5.89. They were not geared for highway driving. We have made some changes:
We changed the drive train to a 1 ton late-model 4X4 Chevrolet, using 4 new 17 X 8 inch wide wheels and 4 new 37 X 13.50 X R17 Dick Cepek tires by Mickey Thompson.
We changed the steering box to power steering & a tilt column. We also have the drive shaft & radiator.
We moved the divorced transfer case back about 26" to make enough room, so that we could use just about any size motor & transmission combinations.
When we started this project, our choice was to use a 12 valve Cummings Motor with less than 86,000 miles & a new rebuilt 5 speed transmission, with a new clutch & pressure plate & fly wheel and throw out bering.
We have the motor, transmission and all of the related parts for the ambulanceat our shop but they are not included in the sale of the ambulance. We will sell these parts at the time of the sale of the ambulance for $5,000 if the buyer so chooses.
I have restored a number of these ambulances. I've included a few pictures of one I completed for a group of doctors in my area.
As I stated up front, this is another project I am no longer able to finish. I also have a number of other project vehicles for sale.
