THE CALIFORNIA UNDERSLUNG
Conceptualized, designed and built to replicate that period (circa mid-1920's) of the long ago forgotten days of wood ovaltrack racing.The "Underslung" represents the style of racer that was unique to those venues of that period of automotive racing history. This car is in memory of Richard Riddell (1946-2008), one of the hobbies greatest talents. His craftsmanship is exemplified in the start up build (circa 6/05-12/07) of this very period antique roadster.
Additional design modifications, engineering, chassis, body, top, windshield, paint, glass and interior were implemented by Joe and Phyllis Moreno (circa 11/08-3/11) to finish enhancing its character, function and safety.
Some of the craftsmen joining in this exciting endeavor to bring this project to fruition included Bob Larson; interior aluminum and other metal fabrication, Dan Houck; top bows and header, Paul Rick; glass, Bob Dutton; paint, Jose Rodriquez; metal fabrication, Alex Serrna; body & paint prep, Doc Hildebrandt and Tino Pineda; top and interior, Mike Schartel; pin striping.
