Description

This is Shelby CSX-t #747 out of 1,000. Now a unique, fun and even practical daily driver, this Shelby was stored away for several years in Ohio before we recently rescued it. We have gone through it, replaced all fluids and vulnerable items, and have put a few thousand miles on it to ensure it is completely ready to be driven again on a regular basis. As it sits, it is a fun to drive little car that runs and drives beautifully and gets tons of "thumbs-ups" from those in the know.

Equipped with a strong running 2.2 liter Turbo I Chrysler engine and a smooth-shifting 5-speed manual transmission, this little car scoots along quite well and has no problem at all around town or at highway speeds. It even gets close to 30 MPG! All of the lights and signals appear to work properly, and though it has "quirks" typical of a 25-year old car, all of the items needed to drive and enjoy seem to function well - including the factory stereo! The AC has not been converted and does not blow cold. Rear hatch struts are worn, so hatchback does not stay up well on its own. Otherwise, it truly is in quite solid mechanical condition.

The interior has stains in the carpet and here and there on the upholstery, but nothing major. It is free of any odor and has generally good trim and controls. All gauges appear to function as they should. The body is in nice shape with no visible rust, though some trim pieces here and there are loose, and there are two minor gouges on the plastic bumper covers. The paint still shines quite well and does not have the peeling and sun fade common on Chrysler vehicles of this era. Mechanically, the CSX starts quickly and easily, idles and runs well, shifts easily through all the gears, and stops straight and true. It is easy and extremely fun to drive. Tires and brakes are new, steering and suspension are all tight. It really is an excellent driver!

When we rescued it from storage, we went through it and replaced all of what needed replacing to make it roadworthy. We replaced part of the fuel lines, brake lines, belt, hoses, and vacuum lines. We changed the oil, coolant, and brake fluid. A full tune-up was performed, including plugs, wires, cap, rotor, PCV valve, and air filter. The thermostat was replaced as was one of the brake calipers which tended to drag a bit. We've put several thousand miles on it since bringing it in with absolutely no problems.

Check out the history on these CSX-t cars if you are not already familiar - not a ton of them remain, and they are likely to be collector's vehicles before too long. At a minimum, the buyer of this car will have a fun, unique daily driver that is a great conversation piece and gets great MPGs and is a blast to drive.
