1971 Dodge Challenger

This is an A93 option package car or 2 door hardtop car which means the rear windows are fixed and do not roll up or down. The factory started this in 1970 and called it the "Deputy" package. The name was dropped for '71 but the features continued. There are no window risers or cranks for the rear windows just a bar bolting the glass in place and small plastic circles covering where the cranks would be. I have the build sheet for this car but the fender tag was removed when the car was repainted and did not come with the car when I bought it. 318 2bbl Torqueflite 904 and 8 3/4" rear end all of which are original to this car. Car has power steering and power brakes (four wheel drum). All lights work as they should. Car was originally GF7 Green but the previous owner decided to color change it to FC7 Plum Crazy. The paint job is nicely done with all jambs under hood and under trunk areas done to match. There are a few small "cloudy" areas in the paint which would probably buff out they just haven't bothered me enough to do anything about. The black vinyl top in in very nice shape. The interior has been changed over to black and is in good condition. I have added a pistol grip shifter handle to the stock Slap Stick shifter (stock handle included as well) and added LED dash lights for better night time visibility. I also purchased another gauge insert that comes with the factory clock. I added a leather wrapped factory steering wheel. The factory radio is still in place (dash is uncut) and there is a Pioneer AM/FM/CD player in a small enclosure under the dash. The 318 engine is original to the car and has been nicely detailed. It runs strong and smooth and fires right up every time. The 904 auto trans shifts smoothly. The rear end is nice and quiet with no odd noises or clunks. Mechanically I have found no issues at all in the last year of driving this car. The exhaust system is factory manifolds with duals and large chrome tips at the rear axle. Now for the bad stuff. First there are two small spots of rust forming under the vinyl top. The areas are still solid to the touch with no signs of rust through but they will need to be addressed at some point. Second the upper passenger side rear quarter panel where the fuel filler Flip Cap is located will need to be repainted. Some of the local kids were playing at our house a few weeks ago and one of them decided it would be a good idea to draw a nice design on that area. With a nail. The scratches are deep but not to the metal but I do not think these can be sanded out. The good news is the previous owner sent the remainder of the paint (base coat/clear coat) form the repaint so there is enough material there to repaint this area. I have included a picture of the area. Third the door locks do not work. I haven't had the door panels off yet but there doesn't seem to be a connection from the key lock to the actual locking mechanisms. I purchased new lock rods in anticipation of fixing this. The odometer reads 50775. Car is clean enough that it could be correct but I would assume 150775 to be on the safe side. If buyer uses Buy It Now I will include the Fenton Super Shark wheels and tires as shown in the pictures. This is a good clean entry level E body that can be driven as is immediately and needs a very small amount of work to be perfect. You can drive this car anywhere. I will also include all the small parts I have acquired. Buyer is responsible for $500 non-refundable deposit sent via Paypal within 24 hours of auction close.
