52 FORD F3 Marmon Herrington All Wheel Drive 3/4 ton truck
Notice to all Power Wagon parties this ad is not placed here to offend anyone, I placed my Marmon Herrington Ford F3 here because there is a larger audience of vintage four wheel drive collectors that visit the Powerwagon pages that may not be familiar with Marmon Herrington all wheel drive trucks, or have forgotten about them since they are less common. I have owned both and both are truly great trucks.
This a truly rare truck built by the same company that built the world famous "Marmon Wasp" bright yellow Indy car that was driven to victory at the very first running of the Indy 500, it is said this is to be the only Ford F3 MH to be restored.
Original "as ordered" Sea Island Green 1952 Ford F3 3/4 ton Marmon Herrington All wheel drive truck. Fully restored in the early 1990s by Rod Kruithoff with OEM parts pulled from his massive collection, Rod only dealt in 52 Ford trucks and owned and operated a large scale salvage yard, which allowed him to chase his passion and the ability to honey pick only the best 52 parts along with buying up NOS inventories, which he used to restore trucks for his private collection.
Rod is getting up there in years now, I grew up just down the road from his salvage yard as a teen, I have admired his work for decades. I purchased several of his trucks for my own collection, and have decided to let one out, only due to a lack of storage and care it takes to be around a restored vehicle of this nature. In other words "my shop is jam packed and I'm afraid I, or someone else will scratch one of these beautiful trucks with the limited space I have".
When I purchased this truck from Mr. Kruithoff it only had .3 of a mile on it since its restoration in the early 90s. It was always hauled on an open trailer exhibit along with other trucks from the collection, as pictured. I have enjoyed just being around it, it truly is all new, as if you turned back time and walked into your Ford dealer, ordered a 4 wheel drive truck, and a few months later you're called to come pick it up. The nubs are still on the tread side of the tires the proper rebuilt 239 Flathead fires right up, lights all work, even the interior and spot lite. Beautiful interior, and engine compartment, the bed is clean enough to perform surgery on, what else can I say, it's like a new truck. The pictures are my best description. I have driven the truck only 6 miles since I purchase it, I even drove it in our local Memorial Day parade a short time ago where it was a huge hit. The vintage color of this truck is hot topic again; meaning it's in style again. Its beautiful however it's one of those colors that is hard to capture with a camera, it shows better in person and the time of day effects how your eye sees it.
All mechanical systems have either been rebuilt or replaced w/ NOS parts, most of the Marmon Herrington parts are painted a deep red and show beautifully. As with anything restored or rebuilt especially at 64 years old it does NOT come with any sort of warranty, just as I bought it. But feel free to check my feedback. The only things that I am aware of that do not work as they should are the windshield wipers are not hooked up, along with the radio, the front end alignment or tow should be adjusted before driving over 55 mph, but I'll try to have that adjusted before this auction starts, if I can get an appoint. Also some very lite paint checking below the rear tailgate almost too minor to for me to point out. Also the truck comes with a nice binder with lots of information on MH trucks plus lots of photos of the restoration process of this truck. Also the truck has high and low range plus compensating and positive drive, also a standard hand parking brake. All mentioned work as they should.
I will post a large amount of high quality pictures on Flicker with a link attached. Also a short YouTube video.

Additional info on Marmon Herrington.
Marmon Herrington, the company represented a collaboration between Walter C Marmon and Colonel Arthur Herrington, a retired Army officer. Marmon, of course, had founded the Marmon Motor Car Company and built the bright yellow Wasp racer that Ray Harroun drove to victory in the first Indianapolis 500 in 1911. Herrington brought into the equation a little G-2, or inside scoop, about what the Army really needed regarding their transportation. He knew the Army had a growing requirement for reconnaissance vehicles, and intended to provide them with one. Together, he and his partner set out to convert standard Ford pickups to four-wheel drive in their Indianapolis, Indiana factory. Marmon Herrington the business is still alive and well today.
