This 1958 Dodge Coronet Super D500 coupe is a real California Highway Patrol Car.361 big block engine, twin four barrel carbs, posi traction rear axle, 12" brake drumsBuilt by Chrysler to CHP specs. Photo of original article attached.1957 Plymouth steering wheel was used on all CHP cars from 1957-1961. CHP spec'd a full circle horn ring for siren control. Also CHP spec'd the rear view mirror to be hung from the roof, not the factory on the dash mount for those years.Needs a full restoration. Some floorboard and trunk rust. Clean frame. Body is straight except for damage to left front fender, a crease in the hood, and a dent at the back of the roof. Not running. Engine and transmission both have clean appearing oil. Radio speaker bracket under the hood. No portable radios then. The radio was re-broadcast outside for officers to hear the dispatcher when outside of the car.No power steering or brakes. All glass is good. Extra windshield also included ( on back seat)Current California title with California black plates that match title.Just came out of Riverside County in California. Was reported to be unit #28. Cannot guarantee that. Also see video of TV party classic car commercials.
