1948 DeSoto Custom

One of the finest Desoto's of this era you will find. Look at completed auctions and see what unrestored cars sell for. This car is completely restored inside and out, frame off.20 years of collecting NOS MOPAR parts went into this restoration. Restoration complete about 2 1/2years ago. Contact me and I will send you a complete listing of the restoration process and everything that was done. Too much to list here. But, for starters, completely rebuilt original engine and transmission. Virtually all NOS parts. Virtually every part internal and externalto the Tip-Toe transmission areNOS. All NOS suspension parts, bushings, kingpins, brakes, wheel bearings, rear leaf springs, NOS fuel tank, over $6000 in chrome plating much of it over NOS parts that had no luster. Original style repro broadcloth upholstery, complete interior new, broadcloth as close to original as possible. New metal fuel and brake lines, complete new brake system. New rear leaf springs, shackles and bushings. All new Steele rubber, new wide white sidewall tires, new repro glass (except rear windshield). Rebuilt steering gear, starter and generator (both with NOS rotor and brushes). Most all linkages (brakes, clutch, shifter) are NOS. NOS regulator and ignition coil. This car has the original honeycomb radiator, extremely rare. Rebuilt distributor with all NOS parts, cap and rotor. Car has NOS Auto-lite A5 sparkplugs as delivered from the factory. Rebuilt fluid drive, new bellows with NOS flywheel (rare). All new cloth covered wiring throughout. Has NOS back up light. All clear interior knobs are in place, some NOS.All interior pieces original, many replated. Most of the exterior ornaments are NOS, including hood ornament. All stainless, much of it NOS, is highly polished. NOS rear fender spears and long rocker panel trim pieces. Try and find those for sale. Radio completely restored, all new vacuum tubes, all new capacitors. Looks and works perfect.PPG paint from bare metal using epoxy primer. Very little bondo, all hammer and dolly work. Let the pictures tell the rest, and contact me for additional information. I know I will get NO WHERE near what I have invested. Just hope someone else will care for this car, and preserve it as the classic it is. Things that need attention. Speedometer does not work, initially it did. Not sure if the driveshaft is bad or the speedometer itself. The fuel gauge reads 5/8 when full even though all the gauges are NOS and there is a repro fuel sending unit installed. Trim around therear glass popped up. There is some chrome plating coming loose from the bumpers. Spraying a little shot of silicone lube into the opening at the bottom of the clock makes it work for months, but right now it is not running. This car is not perfect, but you will not find a perfect one. This is probably as close as it gets. PayPal for deposit only, cashiers check or cash for remainder. No warranty and no return. I highly suggest you come see and drive it if you are in the southeast, or anywhere else for that matter. Serious bidders only. Please don't waste our time.
