Description:

1981 Datsun Z-Series 280ZX

Here it is, an amazing survivor! I had one of these cars in High School and it was a blast to drive. I bought this one to slowly fix up some minor issues, and get running perfectly, but I have a son going into college and I cant spend on it right now. I also have my dealers license, so I buy cars to resell, not to necessarily keep. My loss is your gain. We bought this at a local dealer auction here as a trade in, and when I saw it I had to have it. I couldn'tbelieveit when I saw it at the auction.
1981 280 zx
112,000 Miles (6 digit odometer with documentation so I assume its accurate miles)
Automatic Transmission
Power Windows, Mirrors
Cruise
Aftermarket Stereo (Speakers need replacement)
This 280zx is in amazing condition for its age. The exterior paint is in good condition. Some chipping of the stripes between the silver and the blue but it looks amazing for its age. There is no rust or dents or scrapes on this car except for a little small rust bubbling around the windshield. All of the glass is good no stars or cracks. In the picture of the windshield it has some white marks that is just a grease pencil it is not cracked or chipped. The wheels are all in good condition. The rear tires are almost new, the fronts are not that great need to be replaced. Interior is clean and odor free. The power windows work, the mirrors work but passenger glass is broken. The locks and keys work. Cruise works.
The car starts the first time every time and idles like a sewing machine. It runs and drives fine but has some missing and rough running as you drive but it will run up and down our neighborhood streets fine and shifts fine.
The AC and Heat controls need some work they stick so cant really switch between cold and hot but the blower works. Who cares you will have the windows open anyways. Seats are comfortable with almost no wear. The door panels are in good shape. The dash board is faded with one small crack but that is pretty amazing. The clock doesn't work, but all of the other gauges do. The gas gauge shows 1/4 tank but that is incorrect so the gaugeworks but sending unit needs repaircleaning.
The car came to me with a new NGK OEM wires and plugs and also new distributor and button. I have also changed the fuel filter and oil and filter. I will include a thermostat (it does not get up to operating temp very fast so I assume it needs to be replaced.) and some replacement wire connectors for the tps sensor and maf sensor and the injectors. I was assuming the issue is either dirty fuel rails or injectors, or just bad connectors between the above sensors but I am not sure. It really is in amazing condition overall. It would be a great start for a full restore or to make it a little nicer, but with very minor work it will run and drive perfectly and you can enjoy it for years.
Comes with owners manuals and some basic repair history and documentation from previous owners. Does not come with a title as cars in Alabama over 25 years do not have a title.Included is original documentation showing the purchase in 1981 by a lady named Julie Davis in Decatur, AL. There is also a copy of the original Title but it is just a copy. In 1985 according to the service records it was taken in for service with 43,000 miles on it. There is also paperwork where it was taken in to Midas in 1992 for exhaust repairs and it was owned by Paula Davis at the same address and it had 102,000 miles. It was registered in 2019 this year to a man in Alabama and then it was traded in and sold at auction to me. That means that since 1992 this car has only had 10,000 miles put on it, and it was owned by the original owner or family until this year. It is basically a 2 owner vehicle but really a 1 family owned vehicle.
We can arrange for shipping and also it can be picked up locally in Birmingham, AL
