Description:

1971 Datsun Z-Series

Series One! This car is a super desirable first year car. It was built in 9/70, but is titled (and was probably sold as) a 1971. It's car number 10161, and has most design features of the early cars. Its a very nice car.

Selling points:
  • Very dry car. Very little rust. There are a few tiny bubbles on the doglegs (there are multiple hi-res photos in the gallery at the link above)
  • Straight without signs of collision
  • Nice bumpers and chrome trim
  • Solid floor boards
  • Dealer option mag wheels
  • Runs and drives
  • Everything works, including the power antenna
  • New fuel pump
  • Flushed fuel system
  • New water pump
  • Aluminum radiator
  • New drive shafts x3
  • Lenses are clear and nice
  • All glass is good
  • Bay Area provenance
  • Never undercoated, so you can clearly see how rust free it is
  • Strong 2.8l engine, doesn't smoke or make noise
  • Eibach springs
  • Newer brake hoses
  • Super clean spare tire well
Negatives:
  • The paint is old lacquer and shows some age and stains (see pics)
  • Weatherstripping around doors is dry and falling apart
  • Transmission makes a whining noise in first gear (but works fine)
  • Could use tuning. The car sat for about 2.5 years
  • Leaks a few drops of oil from the engine - not rear main seal
  • The body shows a little wavy here and there if you look for it
  • The interior was tan, but previous owner changed the door cards and seats and dyed the rest black. You can see a little tan here and there (see pictures)
  • Non-original steering wheel, which is nice, but I prefer OE stuff
  • Front fenders have been rolled under at the front bottom (there are pics)
  • Non-original stereo (which works just fine)
I am happy to work with shippers to get the car to you. Cash is definitely preferred, but I will also accept a direct bank transfer. The car will not be released until I have the payment in full. Salt Lake City is the current location of the car, which is well located for easy shipping, right on both I-80 and I-15.
Feel free to ask any follow-up questions or request additional photos. Inspections in person are encouraged as well. It's a very nice example of a series 1 car, which can be enjoyed as is, or a fantastic base for a full restoration.
