1930 Cord Phaeton sedan 8-951930 Auburn Phaeton sedan 8-95 series
The Eckhart brothers, who took over a carriage business from their father, built the first Auburn automobiles (named after their home town of Auburn, Indiana) in 1900 when they realized the future would not be horse-drawn. Some reports say they sold none of the four cars they built that first year because they were overpriced at $800. Auburn designed and built some successful cars but they were in financial trouble after World War I.
They were taken over in 1919 by a group of Chicago businessmen headed by William Wrigley, Jr. of Wrigley Chewing Gum fame. In 1924, salesman E.L. Cord bought the company and the rest is history. The company became a part of his Auburn Cord Duesenberg empire, and built some of the most innovative and beautiful cars of the 1930s before falling victim to the Depression in 1937.
Two eights were offered in 1930, one with a 125-inch wheelbase and the Super Eight with 130-inch wheelbase.
The former had 100 horsepower, the latter 125.
this car has the 246 cubic-inch straight-eight Lycoming engine The car was treated to a ground-up restoration years ago and has been stored inside in a museum ever since.

Terms and Conditions of Sale:
We take time to carefully describe each vehicle and include a substantial number of photos. However, it is very important to keep in mind that these vehicles are pre-owned, not brand new. Although we make every effort to correct minor leaks and problems, the buyer must realize cars over 20 years old will tend to leak, drip oil and other fluids and rattle when driven. The cars are expected to drive different then a new car and such flaws and defects are expected. After careful reading of the entire description, rather than making a potentially incorrect assumption, if any statement or comment is unclear, or if you have questions, please e-mail or call us prior to bidding.. PLEASE ONLY BID WHAT YOU ARE WILLING TO PAY. IF THE RESERVE IS NOT MET, WE MAY CONTACT THE HIGH BIDDER TO OFFER THE SECOND CHANCE OPTION.
While we are happy to show our customers the casting numbers, stamping on the motor and V.I.N numbers on the car we CANNOT guarantee that the motor is in fact the original. There is always the possibility of re-stamped motors, and as technology advances there will be even more. Any representations made by us are "to the best of knowledge." The entire risk as to the originality of the vehicle is with you, The Buyer.
We CANNOT guarantee the originality of these vehicles, including but not limited to: the engine, the transmission, "matching numbersâ€, color change, the frame, the documentation, etc. The mileage is represented to be, "to the best of knowledge", or past mechanical limits, but not guaranteed.
