1937 Chrysler ImperialAirflow Coupe
Before a big long description – take a look at the pictures at one of the most beautiful, huge pre-war American cars made during the 1935-1941 time period and I am sure that you will agree that this is a fabulous looking car and without question the best driving car.
This 1937 Chrysler Imperial Airflow Coupe appears to be an entirely originally car with one repaint decades ago that shows very elegantly. The car looks to have never had rust and has straight, original panels. The chrome is absolutely beautiful. The interior is excellent and possibly original; we are not sure.
If you are a car collector and have driven many pre-war cars from the 1935-1941 period you will be amazed to find out that this is the best driving pre-war car. The big straight eight engine is extremely powerful. The transmission is as slick as butter and the clutch is as smooth as can be. The overdrive is automatic and at 45 mph just take your foot off the gas and it will shift into overdrive. Then continue to cruise at highway speed limits (or faster) in an effortless manner. From a stoplight, this car easily keeps up with modern traffic.
The car is equipped with radio, heater, extra wide white walls (older tires).
If you know anything about Airflows you know that the big Imperial Airflow Coupes made from 1934 to 1937, according to the Airflow gurus have guessed that today there may be less than 20 existing Imperial coupes for all the four years that they were produced. Truly the rarest of rare cars.
This car could be one of the most original Chrysler Airflow Imperial coupes that exists. Even the springs are still wrapped with the original material. The engine compartment is clean and tidy as well as the trunk. All lights, windshield wipers and horn work; however as an addition there have been two bright taillights hidden at the rear undercarriage of the car that light up for braking or night driving for safety purposes. The original taillights work just fine but they are not very bright for modern traffic. This is a car that with a new set of tires installed (current tires are functional but old) could easily travel from California to New York.
I believe that I am only the fourth owner.
The Airflows are legendary for being quality built and for their powerful engine, their safety and their ability to travel at high speeds in comfort all day long. Happy to discuss this car further eightfourseven/seven-sevenfour/foureightfiveseven.
