Description:

1948 Chrysler Other

The Chrysler Windsor was a full-sized car built by the Chrysler Corporation of Highland Park, Michigan (USA) from 1939 through to the 1960s. The final Chrysler Windsor as known to Americans was produced in 1961, but continued production in Canada until 1966.After the war, the Windsor was put back into production as production was halted in January 1942 when all automobile companies in the USA switched to war production. It was similar to the 1942 models. New things included a hand brake warning signal that warned that the hand brake was not fully released, and a new grill. Tank capacity was 17 US gallons and full instrumentation on the dashboard. In 1947, the width increased .05 inches. The Windsor made up 62.9% of the companies sales. Platt Motors is pleased to offer this handsome 1948 Chrysler Windsor you see pictured. When I was invited into the mountains of Northern California hours away from any real towns I knew this was right up my alley. The mile long driveway ended at a barn/shop that would make any country folks pleased. Surrounded by miles of forest I gazed in anticipation of what my eyes were about to feast upon. The St. Claire Blue was shining through the dust that layered this gorgeous Windsor. The owner fired up the generator to turn the shop light on. She continued to tell me the story of her late husband who was infatuated with 1948 Chryslers. "It was his first car Michael" she repeated. I walked around several times in disbelief, for a 68 year old car the paint was pristine. The numbers matching Flat Head 6 was intact, the interior was neat and tidy. The chrome and trim was pristine, I could not find any rust or filler on the gorgeous body. I sat in the drivers seat wondering how he drove this up and down the mountain. There was no question in my mind, I needed this car like I need a cup of coffee in the morning. The next week we sealed the deal and sent my new beauty to the old car experts on a flat bed. After draining and cleaning the gasoline tank and some minor carburetor adjustments she fired right up. I knew right then I scored and I scored big. After a thorough detail she had a nice showroom shine. This Windsor purrs like a kitten and the fluid drive transmission operates with perfection. This historic Chrysler is available for inspection 7 days a week at our Anderson California location. International buyers are welcome to purchase.
