Up for auction today and ready for immediate purchase is this beautiful 1960 Nomad, hat's right I said Nomad. For those who doubt the badging, fter 1957 GM carried the Nomad model till 1961. While the 2 door models were ended in 57 the 58-61 modelstill retained the Nomadbadge with the 2 extra doors.The package offeredImpala triminside and out, nd a much lower production number then the Packwood and Brookwood models. This Nomad has undergone quite the transformation since we purchased it early this year making it stand out even more then the factory appearance in which we found it. The car is in near perfect shape, n has been a garage kept car since purchased new at Don Allen Chevrolet in Miami FL. We purchased it from the South 40 collection. Once getting the Nomad back to the shop. a plan was made to bring this car to a more modern style and stance. Starting with a near mint sledas ground work, e removed the engine and trans for a complete detail. After a complete inspection, eseal, nd detail we reinstalled the engine with a New 700r4 4spd automatic to ensure smooth shifting. A new water pump, uel pump, il pump were installed while on the engine stand. Some common upgrades were made to the engine nicely concealed within the factory appearing mill, GM C3 corvette LT1 4bbl intake was sourced, etronix electric igniton, nbsp;Edelbrock carb and powder coated manifolds. It runs as good as it looks, nd was spotless internally. We installed our custom mandrel dual exhaust which exits out the rear through stainless tips, nd sounds awesome. The Nomad cruises excellent with the 4spd overdrive transmission at 80 and is smooth and clean at almost idle rpms. With the Vintage Air on Cold you will soon forget your riding in a car that's nearly 60 years old. For you northerners the Heat works just as well.
For the stance and suspension we went with an air ride suspension using Airmaxx bag plates, iair 480c compressor and electronic air lift valves, ith a 5gal reserve tank. It is nicely concealed and painted to matchwith our custom setuphidden in the spare tire well. The air ride system operates seamlessly and rides incredible. At the touch of a switch you can be up at ride heightor park it and lay it in the weeds. It's ready when you are every time.The Wheels are billet 20x10 rear18x8 frontBillet Specialties Dagger with new treads.While on the liftweupdated the entire brake system,up front we went withNEWC6corvette 13"power brakes and stock rear drums.
The interior is flawless, he red hound's tooth is a perfect compliment toits silver exterior. Visually stimulating through themint condition glass with stainless trim. It has the red peppered carpet with floor mats and safety belts up front. Its also outfitted with the rare factory padded dash that is flawless.Everything works as it should and looks as if it did when it left the factory.
The body is in very good shape, t looks to have been painted at some point but it is show stopper ready. Its looks amazing in the pictures and even better in person.It is the factory color and trimand its very straight and solid.It does have some very minor imperfectionsbut overall the paint and body are in great shape. The chrome and stainless are flawless and in show condition. All the lights, orn, ipers,washer function as they should.
