Description:

1956 Chevrolet Bel Air/150/210

Ok, purchased this a few monthsback from a guys collection of cars. This is a real 56' bel air 2 DOOR HARD TOP, t is not a 4 door hardtop, t is not a 2 door post. The car was originally copper and white and he had it repainted Gold and white. He also paid to have the interior redone, hich turned out really nice. After that he seemed to have lost interest. I have no idea how long it had been sitting by the time I purchased it. The motor turned over by hand but did not initially run. I went ahead and got it running, hich included installing a new ballast resister, oints/condenser, nd flushing out the carburetor. I also flushed out the gas tank and installed a new fuel line as well as an inlinefilter. I had the radiator and the heater core repaired as well so there wouldn't be any surprises going down the road from the car over heating. I also installed a new original style mastercylinder, urned all the drums, nd installed new front brake hoses and bled the whole system to get all the air and moisture out. The 56 comes with the original 265 V8 2v, riginalpower glide transmission, nd original rear end I believe. I took it to an exhaust shop and had them install a newexhaust system, o it now purrsgoing down the road. If you look at the pictures the motor lookscompletely stock other than the air cleaner. It still has the original style generator that works great keeping the battery charged. The motor is a champ, am not sure of how many miles are on it, ut it still has the original GM gaskets and idles very nice. I have driven the car around town with no issues. I do hear a slight hum from the transmission at times, ut it doesn't seem to affect thedrivability.
Cosmetically the car actually looked nice when I got it. The paint is about a 7, am picky so when I get close I can see little flaws here and there. This car would be a great cruiser as is, nd most people will never notice the little issues with the paint. If it was buffed out, t would shine like day one. I have purchased many NOS and reproduction trim to get this car into the shape it deserves. The car turns heads as it is going down the road, t has a great look to it with the Crager style wheels and vintage stance. Thewheels look great from a few feet away but there is little spots where the chrome haspopped off. I did not totally restore the car, here are a few small items left for the new owner: The original wiring needs to be hooked up for the tail lights and headlights to function properly. There is some frayed wires, o the new owner can repair or just purchase a new harness if they choose. I did not receive a windshield wiper motor with the car, r wiper arms/blades, hese are alsoavailable oneBay or reproduction. I purchased a original deluxe push button radio for the car, am not sure if it works, ut with a new speaker it may work fine. I also purchased installed a complete original lock set for the car, hich includes both doors, runk lock, ew ignition, nd glove box door lock, hese all work great. So you can feel secure henit is locked up. Thewindows all roll up and down, ome need more effort than others. I lubed up the tracks a little and this also seemed to help theoperation. I also installed newweather stripping for thequarter windows where they meet the front windows when closed.
This car is not perfect, o please review the pictures, ndunderstand you are not bidding on a 1000 point show car here. This is a great car as a driver, nd with a couple odds and ends would be a great car to cruise in or take in a car show. There are many 4 door and 2 door post cars out there, hey madea lot less of the Bel Air 2 door hardtops, nd when investing in a 55,56,57 chevy the 2 door hardtops are always in higher demand, because they look so cool with all the windows down!
This car is located in Murrieta California, encourage anyone who is interested to see the car in person prior to bidding. I just want to make sureeveryone knows what they are getting, nd nobody expects some frame off show car.I forgot to mention I also purchased a new trunk mat (floor under the mat is solid, ust looks old). Note: there is a slight crack in the windshield, t is on the passenger side where it curves around, o it doesn't really affect vision orappearance, ut thought I would mention it, o there aren't any surprises for the new owner.Ireceivethe right to sell the car early, s I may advertise itlocally.
(License plate and frame not included with sale, hey were just put on for the pictures and did not come with the car)
