1966 Chevrolet Caprice
396/325HP TH400
1966 was the first year for the Caprice, hevrolet's luxury full size car. Built on the same platform as the Impala, t's guts are virtually identical. I've had mine about 6 months and has 39,750 miles on the odometer. I'm not sure whether this is original mileage or it has clicked over. The interior is original and in very good condition which would lead me to believe that it could very well be original mileage. Just don't have proof! The key chain that came with the car says Grandma so you never know. Car was purchased new in Winnsboro, C at Winnsboro Motor Sales by W.D. Gunter and delivered 10/11/65. Black interior with bucket seats and a console. All interior lights work. Paint is Madeira Maroon, t's original color. One repaint about 12 years ago. Paint is showing some flaws but looks great as you can see in the pictures. There are a few tiny pinholes in the front floor pans. New tail light lenses. Glass is all good and windows go up and down as they should. Engine, ransmission and Rear Axle have been rebuilt and has 750 miles and will rise as I am continuing to drive it. Runs amazing! Engine is the original one that came with the car from the factory as well as the Trans and Axle. Suspension and Brake Systems were completely removed from the car. Underside and frame in those areas were cleaned, tripped and painted. Brake system is completely brand new with a front disc upgrade kit, tainless Steel Lines, ew Power booster and master cylinder. New rear shoes, rums and cylinders. Car stops very well! A huge upgrade from the 4 wheel drum set up from the factory. Suspension components were blasted and powder coated and reinstalled with new Bushings. New shocks were installed as well. Rides like it should. New upper and lower ball joints and tie rod ends. Power Steering works as it should. Engine bay was stripped and painted factory original. All new hoses, adiator, tarter. Carburetor is a Rochester Quadrajet that was rebuilt by Cliffs High Performance. New Pertronix distributor with the electronic upgrade for reliability with a new Engine Wiring Harness New exhaust manifolds connected to a stainless steel Magnaflow Exhaust system. The engine was assembled by B & T Machine, local machinist with 25 yrs experience. Heads were port matched to the Intake and Exhaust manifold. Crank was polished. Stage 1 cam installed. Trans and Axle were rebuilt by Westside Transmission in Savannah, a, very reputable shop. The rest of the work was done by me. There are many new parts that are not listed here and I have a receipt for every one of them.
This Caprice is the perfect Boulevard Cruiser. Meant to be driven! It turns heads and has that Big Block rumble.
The car is sold as is and there are no warranties. I am not interested in trades unless you have a 68 Chevelle that runs and drives and doesn't need metal work. Car is also for sale locally and I may end the auction early if sold. Shipping costs are the sole responsibility of the new owner. I do not need help selling and scammers don't waste your time. Thanks for looking! I will try to answer any questions in a reasonable amount of time and the description of it is honest and truthful.
