1969 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396

Big block Chevelles will always be in demand, nd this 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle SS396 offers the added bonus of being beautiful as well as brutal. Frame-off restored to be driven and shown, t offers the thrill of the muscle car era's most potent performer with a reasonable price that means you can drive it as intended. This vehicle was built and sold in Atlanta, nd has never left the metro area, aking this Chevelle an extra special piece. The original color was indeed code 57 Fathom Green, nd it looks every bit as fantastic here as you'd expect. Repainted three years ago, t shows quite well, ffering a unique blend of upscale elegance and brute force horsepower. Hailing from a warm, ry climate, he sheetmetal is in excellent condition with super straight bodywork and good gaps all around, nd we love that it still wears its original hood. The shine is deep and lustrous, ut it does show some minor signs of use, o go ahead and hit the throttle because you won't be putting the first mark on it. On the other hand, t will definitely stand out at shows among all the red and blue Chevelles, articularly with the very unusual green vinyl top, omething we've never seen before but which somehow looks exactly right on this heavy cruiser. Add a correct white stripe down the flanks, S396 emblems as needed, nd a few well-placed pieces of chrome, nd you get a car that looks great from any angle.Even more interesting is the all-new green interior, hich ties everything together rather neatly. Buckets and a console are always very desirable in a Chevelle, nd yes, hat's a 4-speed in the center of it all. Everything you can see or touch inside is new, rom the carpets to the door panels to the headliner, nd all of it is expertly installed and beautifully finished to give this Chevelle a very polished overall vibe. Factory gauges are crisp and bright and the standard steering wheel wears proper SS badging to go with the emblems on the doors, ust in case you forgot what you were driving. The original radio is gone, eplaced by an AM/FM/cassette head unit, lthough it appears that they were thoughtful enough to reinstall the original knobs to help disguise it. A Hurst shifter for the 4-speed ensures you'll never miss a shift and looks great in chrome. The only possible demerit might be some age-related wear on the bright console trim, ut overall this is an extremely impressive interior. Even the trunk is correctly finished with a new mat and a cover for the spare tire underneath. The 396 cubic inch horsepower factory under the hood was rebuilt to 375 horsepower specifications, nd boy does it cackle! Beautifully detailed with Chevy Orange on the block and heads and chrome everywhere else, t looks showroom fresh and ready to enjoy. Save for a few little things like hose clamps, t's quite authentic and it runs superbly. Long-tube headers and a new dual exhaust system look and sound great, nd as long as you're looking around underneath, heck out those clean floors and rebuilt suspension. The 4-speed snaps off shifts as quickly as you can row the shifter and the heavy-duty 12-bolt rear end doesn't blink at the big horsepower twisting through it. Attractive SS wheels are fitted all around and wrapped in 235/60/14 BFGoodrich T/A radials.Documented with a dealer invoice from '71, rotect-O-Plate, nd the small remnants of a build-sheet, his handsome SS speaks softly but carries a big 375 horsepower stick.
