Description:

1986 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Up for sale is an excellent running and driving pickup that is nearly ready for paint. Drive it as is, or paint it and have a real head turner. There’s a lot to say about this truck so here it goes.

This pickup was located in Nevada for most of its life (see AutoCheck). We bought it out of New York State in 2017 as a solid, but poor running and non-driving project truck. This truck is nearly rust free, with only one small area of rot located underneath the driver’s side taillight where the Silverado trim molding used to be. The truck has a roller cam Chevrolet Performance ZZ4 5.7 V8 engine complete with headers, Chevrolet Performance aluminum heads and intake topped with a 600 cfm holly 4 barrel and a Chevrolet Performance HEI distributor. The previous owner installed this engine along with a Yukon full time posi rear differential and 15” MickeyThompson aluminum wheels.

Over the past three years of our ownership, the following work has been done:

-New dual fuel tanks, sending units, selector valve and switch installed

-Front wheel and axle bearings, races, u-joints, and seals replaced and Warn locking hubs rebuilt

-Rebuilt 700R4 auto transmission, new torque converter, new high capacity pan w/ drain plug, and new tv detent cable installed (About 200 miles on transmission since rebuild)

-New exhaust system installed—headers through a catalytic converter and glass pack single exhaust system

-Front disc brakes rebuilt with all-new components (rotors, calipers, pads, hardware, etc)

-Rear drum brakes rebuilt (wheel cylinders, springs, hardware, shoes, drums)

-New battery and starter installed

-New power steering pump and lines installed

-New serpentine belt installed

-New radiator installed

-Interior restored to original style with new dash pad and carpet

-Lower cab corners cut out and replaced

-New heater blower motor installed

-New head gaskets, roller lifters, spark plugs, and top end gaskets installed

-New ignition cylinder and door locks installed

-Hood replaced due to kink in original

-Passenger door and outer fender replaced due to creased dents

-Transfer case output shaft seal replaced (NP 208 transfer case)

-Rear sliding window installed

-New front shocks installed

-New steering stabilizer installed

-95% tread 32 x 11.5" BF Goodrich all Terrains installed

-All fluids and filters have been replaced

Nearly everything on this truck functions the way it’s supposed to with the major exception being the original A/C system. The truck retains the majority of its original A/C equipment and the ZZ4 serpentine setup has an untapped A/C compressor ready to go should someone desire to complete an A/C installation.

The original color of this truck is midnight blue. We were planning on repainting the truck in its original color, but decided against it due to some unforeseen life circumstances. The plus side of this is that nothing on this truck is hidden by glossy paint or inches body filler. It’s an honest truck that is super solid due to its southwestern heritage. An additional driver’s side fender with a nice original “Silverado 10” emblem attached is included with the truck. Title shows 84,185 miles but the odometer reads lower because we replaced the instrument cluster so the mileage will be listed as "non-actual" when the truck is sold. Currently listed as "exceeds mechanical limits".

Truck is listed for sale locally, so I reserve the right to end the auction early due to local sale. Truck is being sold as is with no expressed or implied warranty. Feel free to message with questions or to setup a time to see it in person. Clean Ohio title in my name, ready to go.
Thanks for looking!
