1958 Chevrolet Other Pickups Deluxe

Up for your consideration is arecently-restored1958 Chevrolet Apache Stepside 1/2 ton pickup. This Los Angeles-born exampleis the recipient of a 2 year, 1500+ hour, frame off, nut and boltrestoration. This was not aquick and dirty restoration to facilitate a quick flip; I restored this beauty thoughtfully and for the long termand is the result of years of planning and dreaming (and saving). This is a relatively original looking restoration, with a barely-broken-in, modern powertrain thatdesigned toprovide years of trouble free service and enjoyment. A big back window conversion was part of the restoration. The truck has always been garage-kept,has never seen any precipitation of any kind andhas been lovingly driven about 2000 miles since the restoration was completed in the Summer of 2017. I have approximately 700 pictures which document every facet of the restoration that I can share with those who are seriously interested. This Apache is a turn-key, show-and-go vehicle; the show-quality paint is amazing and at the same time, it's a very reliable daily driverthat is a blast to operate!

Body/Sheetmetal: This truck is finished in very fine, gorgeous Viper Red Glasurit Base/Clear (Code PRN) that was color sanded to a flat, beautiful deep shine. I would say the paint is exceptional; you don't often see trucks of this vintage with quite this level of finish. The red really pops and it always a standout at car shows. If you don't want todraw attention, this may not be the truck for you.Every body panel was stripped to bare metal and coatedinside and outwith expoxy primer before performing the bodywork. The entire bed (bedsides, front and rear tailgate and all cross sills) is new sheet metal from Mar-K. Bed wood is red oak with 7 coats of satin marine varnish; polished stainless steel fasteners and slats. Being a California truck, the cab was in decent shape and the floors are original and solid. The normal problem areas such as door steps/rockers, lower inner and outer hinge pillars andlower cowl areas were replaced with new sheet metal. Door bottoms and hinges were replaced when thedoors were restored. As mentioned previously I converted the truck to a big back window so the entire back panel of the cab, including the cab corner area, is new sheet metal. All glass and weatherstripping is new. Deluxe cab and door trim. All brightwork, including grill, is new. New bumpers. All wiring is new using original-type harnesses.

Drivetrain: Crate GM 350/290 with 4 bolt mains. High Flow oil pump. Dart 64cc aluminum heads. Holley 670cfm Street Dominator 4 barrel carb. Sanderson block hugger headers.Aluminum radiator with electric fan. HEI Distributor. New battery. True duals with Flowmaster 40 mufflers. Rebuilt TH350 with shift kit and mild (~2100 RPM) stall converter. Lokar nostalgic 23" floor shifter. Original rear recently serviced and new pinion and rear cover seals installed. The motor is plenty for this truck and has a nice exhaust tone. Extremely reliable, starts up every time, runs strong, never above 180F with strong oil pressure. Truck cruises beautifully like a tank at 55 MPH down the highway, and if you so desire, will increase your heart rate dramaticallybetween stop lights at 3/4 pedal (if you can get traction).

Suspension: Original frame with drum brakes (all components new). Original Steering box. New king pins, idler arm, pittman arm, shocksand tie rod ends. Original leaf springs. Wheel bearings converted to roller type.

Interior: See pictures; essentially everything is new in the interior, which is finished in a tasteful but nostalgic Cameo two tone scheme(Viper Red over Indian Ivory) . All aspects of the Deluxe heat system are operational. Original style rubber mat with sound deadening. All electrical components are operational. The interior has a "time capsule" feel when you get behind the wheel.

Original style wheels are new from Wheelsmith in California and powder coated in Oyster white. Original style caps. New tires.

I highly suggest anyone who is seriously interested to make the trip to NY and spend a few hours with the truck, perform a thorough inspectionand take her for a ride. No disappointments so bring a trailer. Or better yet, just drive it home! This truck is also for sale locally and/or I may simply decide to keep her at any time. Please contact me directly with any questions, I'm happy to discuss any aspect of the truck. This truck is"for sale" not "on sale" and not for everyone, so serious inquiries only.At the same time, thereserve is set tens of thousands below the build cost, so don't miss this opportunity! 2zero3-4one7-6zero48
