1972 Chevrolet C-10 Cheyenne Super

Offering plenty of eager power in the form an upgraded, expansive big block, this 1972 Chevrolet C10 Cheyenne Super pairs outstanding vintage curb appeal with a reassuringly strong level of road-readiness to make it well suited for everything from weekend tasks to outright frequent driving. It's been well-cared for over its extensive lifetime and has served just one family over that period. This rugged pickup still wears its original exterior color and offers a comfortable interior sporting an extensive collection... of factory options not found on its more common counterparts. This '72 benefitted from a thorough restyling that its manufacturer took the model through just a year before its debut and that freshening up pairs with a host of styling cues worn only by the Cheyenne line. The egg crate grille takes its place over a clean front bumper and blends with both extensive trim and woodgrain molding running the length of the truck's sides. The Midnight Black paint this workhorse is draped in mirrors its original color and is looking pretty strong itself, though a comprehensive detailing would elevate it even further. From front to back, the assemblage of chrome on board is in excellent shape, and the rubber bumper pads appear to have been recently replaced as well. The properly badged factory tonneau cover in back is another distinctive feature that allows this Cheyenne stand out in any crowd of pickups. The black and white houndstooth pattern draped over the broad bench seat of this '72 was known as a signature muscle car adornment in the late '60s and early '70s but this tastefully subdued version found its way into plenty of trucks as well and really works in this setting. By virtue of its upper-tier Cheyenne Super designation, this truck left the factory with a more extensively detailed interior already in place, included better insulation, higher quality carpet and stylish woodgrain accenting, and the driving environment has been faithfully recreated in factory configuration. Up front, the instrument panel carries a full complement of clear and functional gauges and the dash pad above them is in excellent shape, showing no cracks or warpage. At the center of the dash, the original AM/FM radio is still in good working order and the factory air conditioning this truck rolled off the assembly line with will only need a simple Freon charge to get back online. Chevy armed plenty of its trucks during this era with big block engines, but the 454 cubic inch V8 now on board offers substantially more displacement than any of the available offerings when this C10 rolled off the showroom floor. Fed by a 4-barrel carb, the sizable powerplant is dressed up with a pair of chrome valve covers and chrome air cleaner that can be returned to top form with just a little polishing and it's in definite road-ready condition, starting up promptly and pulling with vigor as it teams with a 3-speed automatic TH400 transmission that shifts smoothly. Power steering makes for easy navigation, while power brakes that feature factory discs up front - a definite upgrade from previous editions that only became available a year before this '72 debuted - provide low-effort, fade resistant stops. A set of 15" factory wheels wrapped with BF Goodrich Radial Long Trail T/A tires is another attribute that helps maintain such an appealing level of authenticity. Below, the undercarriage is looking very solid and ready for plenty of future driving enjoyment. You don't see many trucks from this era that combine an original configuration with such a strong running condition, so this 1972 Chevrolet C10 Cheyenne Super is a welcome find. Call today!
