1982 Chevrolet Other Pickups Diesel

This 1982 Chevrolet K-10 diesel pickup is a very nice, original example of a fairly rare truck. Nothing radical, just a super clean long bed ½ ton truck with a virtually indestructible 6.2L "Detroit Diesel" V8 under the hood and a sharp Light Blue paint job that sticks to the factory recipe. This is simply a lot of truck for the money. You already know we love these trucks around our showroom and we probably sell more... of them than just about anyone else. So it makes sense that when a nice one shows up, everyone kind of takes notice. This pretty Light Blue K-10 has that rugged, square-jawed look that makes these trucks the latest and greatest collector-value haulers and the finish is really quite good after a quality respray back-to-stock a few years back. It's not so nice that you'll be afraid to put it to work, but when you get home and hose it off it'll look good enough to go out to dinner that night. Other than the billet grille up front it's not flashy, but if a pickup can be elegant, this truck nails it. Nice chrome bumpers, a heavy-duty rear bumper, and oversized mirrors make it practical as well as attractive and you can tell just by looking in the bed that this truck has probably never had to very work for a living. The bed could use some spray-in bedliner for a tidier look, especially since it's already dressed up with nice bed rails, but other than that, this a great looking truck that can be driven with pride. The matching blue interior is typical GM no-nonsense, with a wide bench seat, a handsome wrap-around dash, and plenty of creature comforts. There are more recent carpets on the floor and a newer seat cover (likely both replaced when the truck was repainted) in a sturdy OEM-grade vinyl/cloth combination, and it appears that the door panels are nicely preserved originals and the dash is in great shape with no cracks caused by UV damage. The gauges are also original and monitor all the engine's vitals, all surrounded by a newer-looking gauge bezel. Features include R134a A/C, power windows and locks, a tilt column, power steering and brakes, and an upgraded JVC AM/FM/CD/AUX/USB stereo system that provides the tunes. An original steering wheel is still in place and in great shape, the transmission shifter for the 4-speed automatic is on the column, but as usual, the 4x4 system is actuated by the floor-mounted transfer case shifter, which also works like it should, giving you a lot of versatility. GM's rugged, reliable, and torquey 6.2 liter diesel V8 is a great choice in this K-10, getting the half-ton truck moving without a lot of effort and never getting tired when slogging through the rough stuff. Given its durability and low 94,728 actual miles on the truck (which is barely warmed-over for a diesel), it shouldn't be a surprise that it has never required a major rebuild, although it has been conscientiously serviced. You'll need to master the starting procedure since it still uses glow plugs, but you'll also discover that as long as this engine has fuel and air, it'll run, making it incredibly reliable. The heavy-duty 4-speed automatic transmission is brand new and comes with a 75k mile nationwide warranty, the two-speed transfer case feeds heavy-duty 1/2-ton axles, and they've added dual exhaust so it has an intimidating voice. Having spent almost its entire life in the warm state of Alabama, the super solid undercarriage is honest and shows very well for not being detailed. Heavy-duty Rally wheels look butch and carry giant 31x10.5x15 off road tires that will climb over boulders the size of beach balls without a scratch. Nothing radical here, just a nicely finished truck with great maintenance and no stories. If your tastes run more towards stock than modified, then this Chevy deserves a closer look. Call today!
