If you are looking for a car that you can drive and enjoy without doing anything right away, this is the one you want! I'm a certified ASE Master Technician with over 35 years experience in the field and current working Nissan Master Technician. This is my personal vehicle for parades and cruises. I purchased it from the son of a man that passed away and he did not want the car. The history of any restoration work was not know by the son, so it pretty much is what it is, however I have been over this car extensively and the details are listed below.
MECHANICALThis is a matching numbers car that is mechanically sound as it gets, engine runs perfectly and is tight, no smoke or blow by, great power! Even still has the oil bath air cleaner, all fluids including air filter have recently been replaced. Transmission is 3 speed manual on the column (3 on the tree) with a factory overdrive and 3.55 ratio open differential, trans shifts great, overdrive works great and clutch is perfect, emergency brake works as it should. Steering and brakes are manual, car stops steers and drives great! No rattles, no shakes, no surprises! Doors shut like new with no play what so ever. It has dual exhaust with glass packs for a nice note, cruised through parades at a crawl on 95 degree days temp stayed perfect the whole time. Everything works except the clock and full throttle overdrive kick off switch (not a big deal, it was there to kick overdrive out under full throttle application, a simple shift down works fine). Turn signals, all lights, fan, fuel guage, temp, gen lamp, even electric wipers work as they should. Tires are like new condition and have date codes for year 2016. You could fly in and drive this home anywhere. Cruises easily at 70mph with a couple of fingers on the steering wheel.
INTERIORThe interior is beautiful, carpet is in perfect condition, original style, new floor mats, paint and trim are turquoise and are beautiful. The only thing that is varied from original is the custom secret audio system, looks like a dial until it is turned on then a digital display shows in back ground, it has auxiliary input, usb inputs and 2 kicker 6x9 speakers hidden under the rear deck. Other inputs can be added to the stereo if desired and it comes with the direction manual. Small tachometer has also been added. All glass is in great condition, windows all roll up and down properly, window fuzzies are all new, door weatherstrip is new, locks all work as they should. Sill plates are new also.
BODY AND FRAMEThe body and frame are in very good condition, frame is near perfect, no rust and little wear. The body lines on the doors are as perfect as it gets, hood and front fender lines and near perfect as well. The truck area is ok, just not as good as the rest, it has had some body work under the rear tail lights that is a little off when looked at up close. The paint looks great from 20 feet but up close it was not done so great, could use some touch up in areas and a good sand and clear coat would do wonders for it. Side mirrors were moved from fenders at some point and holes need to be filled. Front bumper shines very nicely, the drivers side has a small area where chrome is peeled, rear bumper is fair but a fresh one would really make it pop. The floor, trunk and supports all appear to be original and only the outer center floor supports show any signs of rust (a very small area shown in pictures).
In short, if you are an enthusiast and love these old cars yet may lack some mechanical ability, this is a great car for you. You could drive it anywhere and tinker with the small body issues on the week ends.
