1964 Chevrolet Corvair Monza

Corvair Convertible 1964

Up for sale is a very clean, original un-modified convertible with Automatic. This car was in the same family for over 25 years, where it was garaged, well cared for and kept out of the weather. That long-term owner purchased the car from an elderly friend who had the car restored at that time. The restoration included paint/interior renewing and an engine refresh. It's showing approximately 69,000 miles which appears to be accurate based on the history. My review of the car is that it's an extremely nice driver where people will complement you. The paint is nice and shiny and holding up great; there are a couple of small areas that are showing age, but you would have to look for them. The Body appears to be rust free and as I mention above there are a few tiny spots but nothing that is eye catching. The underside appears to have been undercoated years ago. The floors are good and solid, and it appears they may have been repaired during the restoration years ago and holding up nicely. The interior is almost perfect, NO rips, no cracks or stains; the seats work perfectly. The top is non-power and is in decent shape, it has some wear but is still presentable and mechanically it works great! The front trunk is perfect and has new weather seal and trunk mat and no rust or dents. The engine compartment is very nice, clean and original. It has all the sheet metal and gaskets in place and in good shape. The original air cleaner and new spare tire are present. The maintenance to the car within the last 60 days includes 5 new tires (includes spare), new battery, new fuel sending unit, oil change and lube, transmission service with new fluid and filter. New plugs, cap & rotor, fuel and air filters plus new fan-belt. In addition, an electric fuel pump was added when the new sending unit was installed to assist in quick starting after long slumbers. The brake system was also completely rebuilt with new hoses, wheel cylinders/hardware and shoes. The exhaust and rear grill are in good shape. Everything electrical works as it should, Head lights, interior lights, radio, horn and heater motor. The engine and transmission/transaxle work flawlessly. There are no major leaks, however there are the traditional drops of oil from time to time that Corvair's are known for. I would not hesitate to take this car cross town or cross country. it's a pleasure to drive at highway speeds, starts and stops straight and safely. All it needs is a good home! I encourage serious parties to ask any and all questions before purchasing. PLEASE remember that the above is ONLY my opinion and that the car should be inspected in person or by your representative before purchasing. (908) 759-5651
