This was truly the “King Of The Hill” when introduced, and at twice the cost of a base Corvette, nothing like it had been seen previously. But aside from a monster list price ($60k in 1990), this car brought some serious performance to the C4 model, including an incredible 24-hour endurance run averaging over 175... mph. Impressive indeed, even today.This red/red example is in great condition throughout with only 25,000 miles since new. The window sticker shows a list price of $60,360 - almost $120k in today’s dollars. Standard 1990 ZR1 design cues include wider bodywork, squared off taillights, 11” rear wheels, and ZR1 badging. This Corvette has an accident-free Autocheck report and is all original except for a set of Magnaflow mufflers and brand new tires (275/40ZR17 front, 315/35R17 rear).The highlight of the ZR1 is the remarkable LT5 alloy motor. Designed in collaboration with Lotus and hand built by Mercury Marine, it is rated at 375 hp (a 50% increase over the base 1990 Corvette). The DOHC design with four valves per cylinder represented Corvette firsts. Its outstanding performance has been well documented, as has its longevity. This example’s drivetrain is free of any issues, including the 6-speed ZF transmission and 3.45:1 rear end.The interior is done in red leather – what better color with a red exterior? All the standard ZR1 features are present including dual power seats, Delco Bose Gold Series stereo, and selective ride control. Of course, there is also the valet key to switch engine power between “Normal” and “Full”. This car is also equipped with the optional electronic air conditioning. Everything works properly throughout the car.This is not only an outstanding and desirable Corvette, but it has many of the attributes for good investment potential; low miles, clean history, and all the performance benchmarks established by the ZR1.
