This is the top of the line model for 1940 Chevrolet. Models that year included the Master 85, Master Deluxe, and then the most expensive model the Special Deluxe!
This car is in great shape for a vehicle that is 80 years old. It was pulled out of an abandoned cinder block building. This car was made out of solid steel. This quality pre-WWII American automobile is in fantastic shape given its age.
This is a once in a lifetime never restored barn find. It will make the perfect project car for the right owner. This is a future show car. I included a picture of what this car will look like restored for reference only. The original paint color, which you can still see on the car, is 279 Kingston Gray. You can still see the original paint color which is a neat color.
It includes the rare radio option and still has the original radio with the car, which is lever operated.
The Special Deluxe was the top model for 1940. It has the reliable 'Stovebolt Six' engine.

GENERAL: A longer wheelbase and completely new body and sheet metal were changes for 1940. The New "Royal Clipper" styling started with an " alligator" type front opening hood. The side panels were removable to get at the engine. The grille had a narrow vertical center bar, topped in name by a horizontal bar. It was of one piece design. The headlights were on top of the fenders and featured sealed beam bulbs. Parking lights were mounted on top of the front fenders. The trunk had more flowing lines with flush taillamps. The license plate lamp was in the center of the trunk lid. The bumpers featured two blackfinished indentations running the length of the face bar.
CHEVROLET - SPECIAL DELUXE - SERIES KA - SIX: The Special DeLuxe, Chevrolet's new top-priced line, was a fancier edition of the Master DeLuxe. Stainless steel moldings trimmed the hood and body belt line. Standard equipment included a 30-hour clock, front door arm rests, dual windshield wipers, twin air horns and a deluxe steering wheel with horn ring. A convertible with a full width rear seat and power-operated top was new. The opera seat coupe was replaced with a 5- passenger coupe having a full rear seat. A choice of different colors of upholstery and convertible tops was offered for the first time by Chevrolet."

This car is sold as is. No warranty implied. I've tried to describe it as accurately as possible and I've taken pictures of every angle I can think of. It has the original window mouldings in the trunk and the alligator style hood still opens on the original hinges.
This car is unique in that it has a clear Kansas title and it is an ORIGINAL ENGINE NUMBERS MATCHING vehicle that has never been restored before. I anticipate that the right owner will perform a frame off restoration restoring the car to original. This could potentially be worth a lot of money if the right man gets ahold of it. It will be a fun project for the right person!
Buyer is responsible for either picking up the car with a trailer or arranging shipping across country. I will help load the car. It rolls freely and the steering wheel still turns the wheels. The original engine and transmission are intact and can be easily rebuilt by the right person.
It's a unique authentic part of American history. It could eventually be a museum quality piece.
Good luck. Happy Bidding! God Bless America. Enjoy this car.
