1970 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu SS Clone

This is about an 18 year old amateur restoration. It was purchased in 1989 as a Malibu. Over the years until about 2002 I moved everything from a rusted out SS to this car rebuilding as I went but as you can see it has not been finished and has been used as a driver for the last 18 or so years with about 200 to 300 miles a year. Always kept garaged and not driven in snow or rain. The only thing I know of not SS besides the drive train (will explain that below) is the fuel line from the gas tank. I believe it is larger on the SS and I never did change it. All the springs, sway bars and suspension components are from an SS. It has a rebuilt 12 bolt rear end with 3:31 gears and currently has a 1969 350 with a 4 bolt main, mild cam and holly 4 barrel. Its not fast but runs great. This engine was rebuilt in the 90's and was used to motivate it until I got the big block done. The front end was rebuilt, dash changed to SS and bucket seats and console added. The seats were recovered and rebuilt at that time plus new carpeting. As you can see by the pictures the trunk lid is getting rusty. I have not noticed any other rust forming. The rear quarters were patched and glassed during the build. Not perfect but exceptable. I have a 1969 big block that is a counter engine that I rebuilt some time between 2000 and 2003 and it and the rebuilt turbo 400 have been setting on an engine stand wrapped in plastic ever since. It was bored to 402 and has a mild cam and has been balanced. I believe it is only a 10.25 compression, nothing wild. I have most parts for it but not everything. When assembled, the bearings and cylinder walls were coated with lubriplate. The engine is not locked up and when the heads were installed the valves were left backed off and spark plugs were installed to keep things dry and tight. It will be included along with any other items I might still have laying around plus the engine stand and the motor hoist if desired. I do have the original big block drive shaft which is included. Things I am aware of that don't work on the car is the air conditioning. I have some parts for it but not sure I have all. Clock does not work and I don't think the wiper washers work. The wipers do work. The mileage is not accurate as it is not the original speedometer. I estimate I have driven it less than 5000 miles since putting it together. I kept thinking I would finish it but unfortunately age got to me and no longer will be able to finish and looking to clear it out. I hope to find it a new good home. Should you have any questions or want to view this car please contact me. I am located in a remote area in north central Missouri. The car is fully drive able with good tires and can be driven if desired. I do not offer shipping and it will have to be picked up by buyer.

Please contact me for any questions or concerns. Car is currently stored and has not been driven since October of last year due to the nasty weather we have had here. On Mar-07-19 at 09:02:05 PST, seller added the following information:

Additional Note. Picture of turbo 400 is of a case only. This picture was taken during the rebuild. I believe it is a 1969 unit and is fully assembled with a stock torque converer. Sorry for the bad photo.
