1971 Chevrolet Vega Hatch Back

'71 Chevy Vega GT Street/Drag Race Car

Body:

The engine, transmission, firewall, floor, dashboard, steering, foot controls and seats have been moved back 16”. The entire rear floor was removed and replaced with aluminum panels and widened wheel tubs. The battery is in the trunk. The inner front fender panels were partly removed and lightened. The hood is fiberglass with a functional cowl induction air scoop. Both doors have been lightened. The right side door window mechanism was removed. The heater and windshield wiper mechanisms were removed. Plexiglass windows were installed. The car's total weight is 2320 lbs. The weight distribution (front/rear) is 49.5/ 50.5. Rear signal and brake lights operate sequentially. The paint scheme is Mid 70's /w patina :-).

The unitized frame has been reinforced with a tubular sub-frame connector from the transmission mounts back to the rear bumper. The car has been back halfed and tubbed. Strange adjustable coil-over shocks and Alston ladder bars hold the third member in place. There are 40/60 adjustable drag shocks and V8 Vega springs up front.

The Front tires are Michelin XZX 165SR15 mounted on 3.5"x15" Weld Racing Draglite wheels. New rear tires are 29”x15.00"-R15LT Mickey Thompson Sportsmans S/R Radials mounted on 12"x15" Draglites.
