1987 Chevrolet Monte Carlo ss

nice clean 1987 Monte Carlo SS. I purchased with a tired 350 motor swap. Swapped in a 6.0 LS with some upgrades. Car runs and drives awesome. Took to local track and made a couple passes on a fun day. Runs 12.60's with street tires and closed exhaust and 11.50's with dump caps open and a tiny 75HP shot of nitrous. The body is very clean and rust free. I posted pics of inside trunk, wheel wells and door jams, the bottom of car is just as clean. Looks to have been resprayed by the jams and edges are unpainted. The paint is not perfect but looks great cruising and I get a lot of compliments on how car looks. I did install new Phoenix Graphics correct stripe kit. As to the mechanicals, I wanted it safe and fun to drive, plus have a killer stance and look. The front suspension has 2" inch drop spindles, new shocks, new rotors, repacked bearings, new powder coated calipers. The rear has 2" lowering springs and has new shocks also. Then I had a four wheel alignment done. have receipt for work andfeels tight. The rear diff is the original with posi. changed Pinion seal and serviced. completely smooth operating and dead quiet ring and pinion. The transmission was removed with the motor.I installed afresh built HD TH400 with shift kit, red/black clutches and HD sprag. (Built by S&S transmission). The torque converter is a BTP billet 9.5inch custom built for the LS and set up for a healthy nitrous shot. I really wanted to enjoy car and not have issues with it, so I installed brand new cooler lines, driveshaft, HD u-joints, modded the stock crossmember for true dual exhaust, using genuine Walker SUPER turbo mufflers instead of el' cheapo knock-offs. WIth the cam'd 6.0, it sounds great. not too loud but great old school muscle car tone. Pulled the stock fuel tank, had cooked out and tig welded a center drop sump and ran new fuel system with Edelbrock 150gph ultra quiet pump and BG canister fuel filter. new -8 line ran to front of car into BG fuel pressure regulator and then to carb. I used the ICT kit to install the stock sending units allowing the stock gauges to work. Now.... the motor... I got a clean 6.0 truck motor and stripped down to short block, looked clean, bearings looked good, cylinder walls looked great. Installed a set of 5.3 heads with new dual Lunati valve spring kit to up the compression.Used a Holley swap pan with new Melling HV oil pump. Up top installed new GM head gaskets and bolts. upgraded rockers with Comp Cams trunnion bearing kit and Trick Flow chromoly 7.400 pushrods. The camshaft is a trick flow that specs 236-244 .050 .636/.636 lift on 112lc installed at 110 intake. The intake is a Holley high rise dual plane with a double pumper carb. Using the newest MSD ignition controller with a mild curve and hooked up to pulled a little timing on Edelbrock nitrous plate (75-150hp adjustable). I used Hooker cast iron swap headers, NGK plugs, MSD 8.5 wires, proform covers and coil mounts. looks great, runs strong, very fun to drive. lives on pump gas, but I did splash VP 110 when I took to track, mostly because it smells good. removed heater and AC box under hood and installed UMI block off plate. Has no radio but I installed a piece of Carbon Fiber paneling to close opening. heater and Radio can easily be upgraded, nothing is cut up inside car. The wheels really make it stand out and look updated. The rims are 15x4.5 and 15x8 SSR drag rims and the tires are Mickey Thompson radial front and drag radial rear 275/60/15. pleasecontactwith any questions. I have videos running and driving if you want to hear it.
