This '68 still has its original 'Protecto-Plate' tag that documents the engine, transmission and differential that were originally installed proving this car was born aTrue Super Sport. Verifiable 1968 Camaros are quite rare. 68's did not have the in-depth cowl tag the 1967 models did or the X-Coding of the 69's. There is no way to document a 1968 Camaro SS without a build sheet, Protecto-Plate, original sales documents or the numbers matching engine. This Camaro was built in Los Angeles and delivered new and sold in Spokane, Washington. Spokane is located in Sunny & Dry Eastern Washington. As such it has survived with its original floors still in-tact and in good condition. This is a very rust free car. Originally Grecian Green with a Black Vinyl Top this was a very tastefully optioned car. The car was stripped down for paint and the body work process started. The car has been block sanded once and would obviously need to be gone over prior to paint, it is quite straight and the panels line up well. The moldings (original and new) are included with the car and the door handles and mirrors have been attached to make the car drive-able for testing and transport.Inside reveals a very classy Black and White Houndstooth Interior. The interior has new carpet and front seat upholstery recently installed. The original door panels look good as does the rear seat. The console appears to be the rare original 4-Speed unit.Under the hood originally lived a 295 Horsepower 350. This engine has been lost to the sands of time. Now, a non-numbers matching 350 takes its place. It has been upgraded with an aluminum intake manifold and long tube headers. It runs well but we have no history such as mileage or documentation of the build. The 4 speed Muncie transmission is believed to be the original unit. It does work nice and shifts properly through the Hurst Linkage but does have some slight gear whine so it would be best to plan on servicing some bearings as part of your reconditioning. The rear differential appears to be the stock 12-Bolt unit. The car was ordered with a 3.55 Ratio on Posi-Traction carrier unit. Combined with the 295 Horsepower and the Muncie 4 Speed this would have been a very well balanced and excellent performing car.The SS required Power Front Disc Brakes are still in place. They work properly but keep in mind this car has not seen regular street use in many years so plan on at least an inspection before street use.The wheels are the 1969 N66 'SS Wheel'. These would not have come stock on the car but were probably added back in the day. The BF Goodrich tires have good tread but are quite old and should be replaced prior to street driving. For Transportation we recommend Mike's Discount Auto Transport. They offer the best customer service and pricing in the industry.Call them for a quote at (888) 671-9285
