[isdntekvideo] '58 Chevy Apache Pickup in Faux Patina Finish
This unique "patina" pickup truck is done right. It is a nice truck with modern drive line and comforts, under a paint job of faux patina. It has power steering, power brakes, and Air Conditioning. The drive train is a fuel injected Chevy LT1 and 4L60e out of a 1996 9C1 police car. The front and rear suspension components came from Heidts, including power rack & pinion steering. The overdrive transmission combined with the tall rear end gears make for an easy Interstate driver. The wheels are 18 and 20 inch steelies from Detroit Steel Wheel. The truck rolls very nicely on Yokohama Parada tires, P235/55R18 in front ant P255/40R20 in the rear. The interior is all fresh and neatly done. Gauges are digital versions from Dakota Digital. The radio is from Custom Autosound that includes a USB input. All of the glass is new. Modern 3-point seat belts are installed correctly. Vintage Air A/C blows cold when you need it. Small version of the '56 Chevy steering wheel is mounted to a Flaming River column. The fuel tank in this truck has been moved out of the cab. The new tank is mounted under the new wood bed with the filler cap mounted into the rear fender. The truck has a new, modern wiring harness. The body of the truck was taken down to bare metal, and painted in several stages to achieve the patina look. Top coat is a satin clear coat. All of the finishing products used on this truck are PPG. The bumpers and grille have been re-plated in nickel to complement the patina paint job. This truck is a great driver with a strong motor that is also very tractable and idles nicely.
