THIS1961 CHEVROLET BELAIR 2 DOOR POST SEDAN IS THE PERFECT CANDIDATE FOR A TRIBUTE V8 BIG BLOCK 409 SLEEPER CAR! A VERY ORIGINAL CAR FROM DAY ONE WITH ONE REPAINT IN 1980'S. 100% TIME CAPSULE CAR WITH ALL MATCHING NUMBERS DOWN TO THE STARTER AND RED TAG GM GENERATOR. THIS WAS GRANDMA'S CAR, BUT ITHAS TO NOW GO. THIS '61 BELAIR WAS BOUGHT RIGHT HERE IN GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO AT CENTRAL CHEVROLET ON JULY 21, 1961 FOR A GRAND TOTAL OF $2,891.57. GRANDPA WORKED FOR THE PHONE COMPANY AND USED THIS CAR HERE IN GRAND JUNCTION FOR YEARS. THE CAR WAS WELL TAKEN CARE OF AND AS THE YEARS PASSED IT HAD ONE REPAINT. THISHAPPENED AFTERGRANDPA HIT THE DRIVER SIDE ON A LARGE ROCK AFTER FISHING & SLIDING OFF THE ROAD. IT CREASED THE DRIVERS FRONT FENDER AND CREASED THE DOOR AND FIRST PART OF THE LOWER DRIVERS 1/4 WHICH WAS ALL REDONE AND HAS HAD SOME BONDO REPAIR IN THESE AREAS. NO BAD UNDERSIDE DAMAGE OR FRAME DAMAGE. AFTER THE COMPLETE REPAINT THE CAR WAS USED SPARINGLY AND STILL HAS A ORIGINAL 83,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. AFTER GRANDPA HIT JUST THE FRONT DRIVERS FENDER AGAIN, REVEALING THE OLD BONDO WORK DONE IN THE LATE 70's,THAT WAS THE FINAL TRIP MADE IN THE CAR. HE HAD THE CAR SEMI-PREPPED FOR ANOTHER REPAINT THAT NEVER HAPPENED, AND THIS IT WHERE IT SAT FOR THE NEXT 30 YEARS. NOTE, HE ALWAYS WANTED TO INSTALL THE DREAM 409 BIG BLOCK IN THIS CAR AND THE REAL ORIGINAL FLAGS ARE FROM 1962 V8 409 CAR.

WE HAVE CLEANED IT UP AND RE-STARTED THE ORIGINAL 265 MOTOR TO VERIFY THE RUNNING CONDITION OF THE MATCHING NUMBER BLUE FLAME 6. ALL 100% ORIGINAL MATCHING NUMBER CAR. WE HAVE THE ORIGINAL PAPERWORK FROM THE DEALERSHIP HERE AND THE ORIGINAL RECIEPT FOR PAYMENT. GENEVIEVE GAVE THE CAR TO FAMILY MELVIN IN 1982 AND REGISTRATIONS SHOW THIS FROM THAT TIME FORWARD. ALSO HAVE MANY PLATE REGISTRATIONS UNTILL 1988 AND THAT IS ALL. THERE IS NO TITLE, IT WAS LOST MANY YEARS AGO AND CAN BE LOOKED INTO IF NEEDED. COLORADO PLATES WILL GO WITH CAR AND OLD REGISTRATIONS.

THE OVERALL MAIN BODY IS VERY GOOD AND STRAIGHT AND IS RUST FREE IN THE CRITICAL SPOTS. THE ROOF RAIN/DRAIN GUTTERS UP TOP ON ROOF ARE PEFECT, THE TRUNK FLOOR AND BRACES ARE ALL GREAT AND JUST ONE PIN HOLD SHOWING. THE REAR LOWER FLOOR PANS ARE WEAK AND NEED REPAIRED AT SOME POINT AFTER LOOKING UNDER THE RUBBER MAT. THE FRONT FLOORS ARE VERY GOOD AND SOLID. THE BRACES & UNDERSIDE IS GOOD WITH ONE OR TWO BRACES HAVING JUST A SMALL ISOLATED RUSTOUT DUE TO MUD PACKING. OVERALL UNDERSIDE IS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION AND SOLID. THE FRONT FENDERS NEED THE COMMON FRONT BROWS DONE AND THE LOWER CURVES. THE LOWER FRONT FENDERS HAVE THE COMMON SILVER DOLLAR SIZE SPOT AT THE SLASH-UP AREA. VERY ISOLATED.DOORS SEEM GOOD WITH SEAMS LOOKING OK BUT DRIVERS DOOR HAS HAD THE OLD REPAIR AND THE SEAMS SHOW THIS WORK. ALL HEADLIGHTS ARE ORIGINAL T-3 DIAMOND HEADLIGHTS.CHROME BUMPERS ARE VERY NICE DRIVER QUALITY AND SO IS THE POT METAL AREAS. ALL GLASS IS ORIGINAL AND EZE EYE TINTED, INCLUDING THE FRONT WINDSHIELD WHICH IS VERY GOOD AND ORIGINAL. WINDOWS ALL GO UP AND DOWN BUT PASSENGER SIDE DOOR GLASS IS DISCONNECTED FROM THE ROLLER WHICH GOES UP AND DOWN BUT THE GLASS IS HELD UP IN POSTION BY A WOOD ROD. FRONT SEAT GOES BACK AND FORTH GOOD. ORIGINAL GLOVE BOX IS THERE IN GOOD SHAPE. LIGHTS ALL WORK, BLINKERS AND HIGH BEAMS. RADIO & CLOCK DELETE CAR. RE-STARTED THE ENGINE AFTER MANY YEARS WITH OIL PLACED IN EACH CYLINDER AND ORIGINAL AC PLUGS CLEANED. CAR TURNS OVER GOOD AND STARTS AND IDLES, HAS BEEN RUNNING ON A JUG. GAS TANK WILL NEED CLEANED OUT TO BE SAFE AND TO MAKE SURE IT WONT BRING UP OLD DIRT, NO GAS IN THERENOW I BELIEVE AND NO RUST OUT SEEN ON TANK. TIRES ARE VERY GOOD ORIGINAL WHITE WALLS AND ORIGINAL SIZE 7.50 x 14" WITH THE NIB CORRECT STEEL CHEVROLET WHEELS, GOOD TREAD ON TIRES AND HAS THE CHEVY POVERTY CAPS.SPARE TIRE AND ORIGINAL JACK IN TRUNK.

NOTE: THE SET OF 4 PERIOD CORRECT 5 SPOKE CUSTOM CLASSIC ROD WHEELS AND TIRESCOME WITH THE CAR -THAT HE ALWAYS WANTED TO INSTALL ALONG WITH THE LEGENDARY 409 ENGINE AND NEVER DID.

TO 100% CLAIRIFY, THIS 1961 BELAIR COMES WITH THE OLD ORIGINAL CUSTOM 4 EXTRA TIRES AND WHEELS. THERE IS NO 409 EXTRA ENGINE. JUST THE BLUE FLAME 6 THAT IS FACTORY INSTALLED IN THE CAR. HE AWAYS WANTED TO INSTALL A 409 IN THE CAR AND HAD THE 409 EMBLEMS INSTALLED. BELIEVE ME, IF WE HAD A 409 SITTING AROUND, IT WOULD ALREADY BE IN THERE AND THE PRICE WOULD BE TRIPLE WHERE THIS CAR IS AT RIGHT NOW. HOPE THAT MAKES THINGS 100% CLEAR.
