1969 Chevrolet Camaro Restomod

Description: After a three year build I have decided to sell my 1969 Camaro Restomod. I bought the car in 2003 and it went under a rolling restoration. In 2007 the car went to the body shop and had a lot of sheet metal replaced to include both full quarter panels, tail pan, deck lid and 4" cowl hood. All of the side markers, badges, door handles and mirrors were all shaved for a smooth look. Many of the seams were welded in and smoothed over. In January of 2015, I disassembled the entire car to do a full on restomod. It took three years to build and I finished the car in January of 2018. The car only has about 400 miles on it since the project was completed. The following is a list of the details:

Engine

GM LSX 441 CID with Hogan style sheet metal intake and a polished Spectre Air Intake. It has a Scat Pro Forged 4340 with a 4" stroke, Carillo H-Beam Rods, JE Forged Pistons with a 4.185" bore. The cam is a GM 454 hydraulic roller cam so you can easily look it up for all the specs. The heads are LS3 that have been ported and polished. Rockers are GM with the upgraded trunnions. TSP polished aluminum coil covers finish off the top of the valve covers. The car was dyno tuned and produced 501 RWHP and 465 RWT on a mild tune. The tuner said there is a lot more room if we wanted to get more power but I was content with it since it's a street car.

Engine Bay

The stock firewall was cut out and replaced with new 16 gauge steel that was completely smoothed over. The front inner fenders and core support were media blasted and body work smoothed everything over. All the metal was shot with single stage satin black paint.

Fuel Delivery

1969 camaro EFI fuel tank from Tanks Inc. It includes GPA series fuel pump at 400 - LPH. The fuel rails are from Holley with Russell stainless fuel lines and Russell black anodized fittings.

Cooling System

Aluminum Radiator made by Superior Radiator with 16" electric fan that produces 3000 CFM. Attached to the shroud is a Mishimoto Reservoir overflow polished tank that is 8" high.

Exhaust

Kooks Stainless Steel Headers that measure 1 7/8" diameter and 3 ½" collectors. The 2 ½" exhaust system is Pypes with the Pypes Violator Mufflers and Pypes X pipe.

Transmission / Rear End

A Tremec TKO 600 bolts up to a Mcleod Steel bellhousing. The tranny tunnel was modified and raised 2" to allow a tighter fit, better pinion angle and more ground clearance. Inside the bellhousing is an American Powertrain flywheel with Science Friction Atomic Twin Clutch and Hydramax Hydraulic Clutch. The Tremec connects to the rear end with a 3.5" steel driveshaft with 1350 U-Joints. The rear end is a Chevy 12 bolt that has been shortened nearly 6" to make room for the Detroit Speed mini tubs and 335 size tires. An Eaton Posi with 3.42 gear ratio and Moser axles are housed inside with a Moser Performance aluminum cover sealing everything up.

Wheels / Tires

The wheels are True Forged Sleepers that are satin black with a polished lip. The front wheels measure 18" x 9" with 5.75" BS and a 2" lip. The rear wheels measure 18" x 12" with a 6.5" BS and a 6" lip. The tires are "BF Goodrich G Force Rival" with the fronts measuring P275/35/ZR18 and the rears measuring P335/30/ZR18.

Suspension / Steering

Complete Ridetech coilover package for front and rear suspension with the HQ coilover single adjustable shocks on all four corners. The Ridetech Musclebar and Tru Turn system were also added. The subframe had the Speedtech Chicane bracket conversion so the front coilovers have the eyelets on the top and bottom of the shocks.

Steering is a complete Lee Power Steering setup. The steering box is their performance quick ratio 12.7:1, Power Steering Pump and remote Power Steering Reservoir that is mounted on the core support.

Power Brakes

Wilwood 12.19 brakes, slotted and cross drilled with the operational rear emergency brake.

Electrical System

American Auto Wire Classic Update Series throughout the entire car with Dakota Digital LED tail lights in the rear. LED headlights with Morris Concept driving lights finish off the front end. LED lights were added to the courtesy lights and the dome light to illuminate the cabin.

Interior

The start of the interior project began laying down Second Skin Audio Damplifier Pro sound deadening and Luxury Liner Pro insulation for noise and thermal barrier. ACC cutpile carpet was added to complete the look of a modern interior. The stock front seats were installed covered in TMI XR seat covers. Completing the TMI series are the XR door panels, XR rear seat with console, and TMI's one piece unisuede headliner. Three point seat belts were installed for the front seats and stock lap belts for the back seat. The front console is a one off custom piece with brushed aluminum face plate and top plate. The power window buttons, two USB ports and 12V power source are also located on the console. Nu Relics powers all four windows. An auto dimming mirror was installed with compass, temperature and map lamps as added features.

The dash is a custom made fiberglass piece by Modern Classic Interiors. Housed inside the gauge panel are Dakota Digital VHX-1060 gauges, a variable speed wiper switch, Classic Auto Air Conditioning controls and a Gallotech push to start button. The Gallotech push to start system is also an alarm, the brain for the shaved door handle kit and a remote start system so no keys are needed. The tilt column is by GM Tilt with the hi-low beam switch added to the turn signal lever and a Budnik steering wheel finishes everything off nicely. The Shop LLC kick panels were installed along with a Marquez Design package tray. The package tray, kick panels, dash and console were wrapped in soft vinyl.

The stereo system is housed inside the console and is a Pioneer AVIC-5100NEX with GPS, Apple Carplay, Reverse Back Up Camera and Bluetooth. A JL Audio 10" subwoofer is located in the trunk with a Rockford Fosgate 500W amp. Speakers are SoundStream all the way around with 5" mounted in the kick panels, 2" tweeters mounted in the A-Pillars and 6" x 9" speakers mounted in the speaker tray.

Paint

The black paint was shot with Dupont GM Black (GM8555) and the stripes were shot with Cadillac Pearl White (WA800J). In December 2017, I took the car to a body shop for some minor imperfections and the whole car was cleared with House of Kolor Show Clear.

I have receipts and build photos and will be made available upon request. Not every detail of the build was covered but if you have any questions or want to see photos of a certain part of the build feel free to call or text Dan at 702-712-7934 or email me at dcarbonetti188@hotmail.com.
