It equipped with its original 302 DZ engine, VIN stamp verified (See Photos Below). The transmission is the original, also VIN verified, Muncie M-20 4-speed. It is equipped with power front disc brakes, also has power steering. The car wears its correct color combination of code 51 Dusk Blue & Blue interior. This one is a driver. It is rare to find a Z/28 still equipped with its born-with 302DZ engine, this is what we have here. Engine Block Stamping - V0205DZ / Block Casting - 3956618 / VIN -124379N609197. The original matching VIN stamping is intact near the oil filter, further confirming this to be the original engine to this car.
The mechanicals are strong. This engine has had a previous rebuilt some time in its life, it has a performance cam with a great sound, again be sure to check out the video. Holley 4bbl. & Winter's casted aluminum intake manifold. Long tube headers help this combination breathe. The car runs good and clutch grabs as it should. It goes through the gears with ease and the steering feels good.This car has some very low gears under it (SEE VIDEO) 4:30 to 4:56 neighborhood.The front end was previously rebuilt and the front brakes were redone recently. Closer inspection reveal a good solid original firewall, inner fenders and core support.
The original trim identification plate is in place. This is a Norwood built example (02D) last week of February, 1969. It wears its correct color combination of Dusk Blue (51) with blue interior (715) The X-33 code means this '69 Camaro is a Z28 with the Z21 option. The Z21 package includes wheel well bright trim, gill molding/trim, & stainless roof drip rail molding.
The Dusk Blue paint is driver-quality. It has many flaws on close inspection. This car has had the quarter panels replaced and the floor pans patched towards the back. The car has great curb appeal though. This is a Z28 that can be driven and enjoyed as-is or restored to a high collector level due to its matching-number's pedigree.
Open the doors to 1969. The interior is all there and in decent condition front to back. The factory headrest vinyl seating is intact along with the headliner. The dash is in good condition. The correct tachometer is in place and speedometer, both working. The center clock is missing and the radio is also missing, although the bezel is there and intact. The aftermarket fuel gauge is functional. as are the headlights and brake lights, signals.
