Description:

1969 Chevrolet Camaro

Bidding on a 1969 Camaro X11 car. Original v8 car as determined by the third digit of the vin. "4" in the third digit position denotes V8. The original colors were fathom green exterior with dark green interior. This car is an excellent restoration / clone candidate. It currently has a non original 350 with a 4 speed trans. The engine was rebuilt about 10 years ago and has seen mostly storage since then. It is a strong runner with no smoke or issues. The trans shifts through all 4 gears and also presents no issues. It has a 10 bolt non positraction rear end with multi leaf spring configuration. The springs were replaced with new prior to its long storage as were the shocks. The floor pans are in amazing shape for a '69, They are solid and straight as can be seen in photos, there is some very small perforation in drivers side front pan near the heel board. The rocker panel inner and outer are also quite solid with no rust through. Both rear frame rails are excellent, showing only surface rust, spring hangers and body mount points are excellent. The trunk pan is very nice, with one hole about the size of a half dollar in the upper left pan area. All the floor and trunk drain plug locations are very nice. All the aforementioned sheet metal and pans are original to this car. Trunk lid is solid and straight, with good flanges and an original rear spoiler. The car will need both outer rear quarter panels, also front fenders are rough at the lowers. Doors have been repaired and it shows, I think they are salvageable, but I'll leave that decision to the next owner. The car still retains all four of its original cocktail shakers. The rear valance is very nice, with good flanges and no inner valance rust. This car has been painted several times and was treated to amateur bodywork, but it is by far one of the better resto candidates that I have seen in a long time. Not many left that don't need floor/trunk pans and framerails. The interior is typical, decent but not show quality. It has great seats that will recover and the correct '69 fronts with headrests. Dash pad is nice without the typical warping/curling. It has the wrong steering wheel, standard gauges etc. there is a new carpet set in the car. This is a manual drum brake car, with manual steering and a manual convertible top. The top mech. moves freely and is straight with a good fit. upper top header has surface rust, but shows no signs of rust through. all glass appears to be original to the car, LOF date coded. original SS hood in very good condition. The car starts right up and is drive able, however the brakes are spongy and will need redone. I do have a box full of new brake components that came with the car. They will be included in the sale. Overall, this is a great foundation for a full restoration of one of the most desirable cars from the muscle car era. Car is located 20 minutes west of Detroit. please feel free to ask any questions.
