My father purchased this car back in the late 80's early 90's's as a restored numbers matching car. It was his dream car but unfortunately he can no longer drive the car. He drove it a little bit to car shows and stuff and then put it in climate controlled storage. I acquired it from him thinking it would be something my husband and I could enjoy, but we just have too many cars to care for so we are selling the corvette.
It was originally Cortez Silver but was painted Monza Red shortly before my father purchased it.
We have put alot work into her including spending 2 years locating an original carburetor which we then sent off to be restored. We have also added chrome ignition shielding.
The interior is in really nice shape and we also replaced the radio with a new digital vintage style one and still have original radio and amp stored away. The clock has been replaced with one of the upgraded models.
Brakes have been gone through, flexible hoses replaced, front brake line, master cylinder, pads, & calipers. Brakes work great.
New heater core and evaporator for A/C. A/C is not operational.
Seal around removable window has been replaced.
Front springs replaced. Rear leaf spring replaced.
Rear differential has been gone through and rebuilt with new clutches and yolks.
One of the half shafts was replaced.
New fuel tank was lined to keep from rusting and new fuel sending unit installed.
Spare tire cover pieces up on shelf.
What I know that still needs to be done.....Evaporator is replaced in the A/C but needs new hoses, compressor needs to be gone through, etc to get A/C working. Right now the heater core is just bypassed and just needs hoses to get working. The Rear trailing arms need to be serviced and Bearings have too much play. Gear shifter operates but is a little sloppy.
This work has been done over the course of a few years. There is more that has been done and more that needs to be done.
We also have some spare parts sitting around that go with the car as well as a car cover.
It is a very original car.
As for leaks, it does have a leak in the power steering coming from the control valve. The steering has all new hoses and the control valve was rebuilt but unfortunately the control valve is leaking. There are oil leaks from the engine. The engine as far as I know has never been touched and is original.
There is minor damage to the front left where the spoiler attaches (best way we can describe it). We have never done any body work on it and have never really looked for any previous repairs but we have not seen any.
The paint is over 20 years old and is showing signs of age. There are tiny bumps coming up in the paint. It is not flaking off but they are there and you can see it in the pic.
We are trying to be as honest as possible about the condition of this car and what we know. It is currently up on a lift and available for viewing. Please ask any questions you may have and we will do our best to answer them. If you would like any specific pictures, we will be happy to provide them.
We will continue to update this listing when we think of something else you may want to know. If you are interested please send us a message and we will get back with you. Thanks
