Description:

1969 Chevrolet Corvette 427/400 hp Tri-Power

I recently discovered this 1969 Corvette T-Top Coupe that had been stored outside the previous owners garage for the past 17 years. As the original title shows, he purchased the car used in 1974 and paid it off in 1977. He drove the car up until the late 1990's when he decided it was time to restore it. He removed all of the chrome & brightwork, 427 Big Block Hood, both doors, T-tops, rear valance panel, hood, radiator & support and the complete motor & transmission. All of these removed items were properly stored in the basement of his home since then. He started stripping the paint off of the body and that is where the project stopped. I purchased the car, brought it home and cleaned and sorted all of the parts to see what might be missing or not. As my photos show, I have since completely reassembled the car with the exception of installing the motor and transmission. I also removed the original gas tank and discovered a small section of the original build sheet. This "Unique" Riverside Gold with Standard Black Interior Corvette is mostly complete and nearly numbers matching. It has it's original 427/400 hp Tri-Power Engine with Factory AC, and the original numbers matching 308 heavy duty posi traction rear end with sway bar. Unfortunately the original transmission was replaced with a later dated 1969 Muncie 4-speed. The original L68 427 Tri-Power engine is mostly complete from air cleaner to oil pan and all of the components are match dated to the motor and early December 1968 build date of the car. I did not receive nor do I have the 2 end carburetors, exhaust manifolds, smog system or any side exhaust pipes. The stamping on the front of the engine block is T 11 29 LQ 19S709623 and is cast dated on the back K 19 8. The motor is in undamaged condition and still spins free. As before mentioned the transmission is a Muncie 4-speed wide ratio replacement that is dated April 10, 1969. All of it's components are match dated and the transmission spins freely and shifts easily. Besides the L68 Tri-Power engine the other factory options ordered on this Corvette were: AM/FM Radio, Power Steering & Brakes, Air Conditioning, and the "Rare & Desirable" Side Exhaust System. Unfortunately because of it's lengthy outdoor storage the body of the car deteriorated, mostly to where the paint was removed that is now down to the bare fiberglass. All of the panels appear to be original to the car with the exception of both front fender side panels. The floors are in nice shape, never being broken or drilled through and the firewall is undamaged. Both doors open, close & latch and still retain their original tinted glass. The windshield has multiple cracks and the frame is very rusty and needs completely replaced. The original removable tinted rear window is in nice condition. Both T-tops latch onto the body correctly and were vinyl covered years ago. I do have the outside trim for them. The original seats are included but need completely restored. The original head rests are in nice condition. The instrument panel, gauges, AC controls & vents & center console with shifter are complete and intact. The steering wheel and dash pad are in good reusable condition. This 69 rolls & steers, has no brakes, and also has the rustiest frame you can imagine. You are not going to reuse this frame! What you are bidding on is a nearly complete & numbers matching restoration project that comes with a clean clear West Virgina Title. This is a very low production automobile as there were only 2000 427/400 hp Corvettes built out of the more than 38,000 that were made. Now add to the fact that this car has factory AC, Side Pipes and is Riverside Gold, surely makes this Corvette a super rare combination. Please understand you are bidding to buy, not to be the first one to look. If you want to examine this Corvette during the auction you are more than welcome and I recommend that you do so. However if you need to speak with me concerning it's condition or to make shipping arrangements, please call 724 984 1659. The car is located 60 miles south of Pittsburgh, Pa. I am not interested in any trades. Alternate payment methods are highly recommended and gladly accepted . Winning bidder to call me 724 984 1659 first thing Tuesday morning August 22 to discuss making a substantial deposit same day with the balance due upon pick up of the vehicle within 7 days unless other arrangements are agreed to by both parties. I am leaving for Corvette Carlisle on Wednesday morning so a commitment must be made before I leave or the car will go there to be sold. Thank you for spending the time to look and good luck bidding!
