Description:

1964 Chevrolet Corvair Monza Spyder

If you want a great Corvair, this just might be your car. I have owned this Saddle Tan Metallic Spyder since 2000. Prior to my ownership it had been off the road and stored indoors since 1975. When I purchased the car it was 100% original with nothing missing and no modifications. The car was sold new here in Dallas, Texas at Steakley Chevrolet. I have paperwork documenting 3 previous owners, all in the Richardson Texas area and I was told the original owner was a Texas Instruments (TI) engineer. The mileage is original and it is 100% rust free! Original factory options include:
Positraction RearendFull tinted glassAM RadioComfort and Convenience groupPadded Dash
The car was restored through the years, always kept inside, driven sparingly and was licensed last year for the first time since 1975. I have driven the car a 1000 miles in the past year without problem one! This restoration was costly, correct and included many NOS parts as well as Clark's Corvair reproduction parts. I have receipts for more than $16,000 but I suspect there is at least another 10K invested. The restoration includes the following:
Top quality Base Coat Clear Coat Paint of the original color (underside of front hood has original paint)Rebuilt original 150 HP matching numbers engine, including rebuilt heads, turbo and carburetorRebuilt TransmissionRebuilt Positraction (original) transaxleRebuilt generatorRebuilt starterAll new wheel bearingsNew Clutch and cableNew rear coil springsNew ShocksNew brakes, including lines and wheel cylindersCustom built Flaming River quick steering boxReplated bumpers (not great)Halogen headlamps185/80/13 Whitewall tiresReconditioned 13" wire wheel covers (also comes with a full set of correct Spyder wheel covers)Clark's complete new wheel well moldings and rocker panel trimClark's correct carpetClark's padded dash (lighter color than original)Clark's rear wiring harnessClark's driver side bucket seat back (all other seating surfaces are original)Clark's reproduction rubber seals for doors, engine and bodyClark's fuel sending unitClark's cardboard interior panelsClark's door panels with armrest covers and new chrome basesClark's window fuzziesNOS headlight coversNOS front grillNOS rearview and sideview mirrorsNOS hood and trunk chrome letteringNOS Monza and Spyder side emblemsNOS rear license housingNOS window and door cranksNOS front floor matsAND MORE!
The car runs like a top, quick, smooth and easy shifting. There are NO, and I mean No OIL LEAKS! No rattles and squeaks!
The radio does not work, the original windshield has scratch (from a bad wiper) and the bumpers need replating to be perfect (been done but should be better)
