Finished in unusual Mulsanne Blue paint, this awesome 1970 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 RS is one of the most potent cars of the era and still delivers a ton of fun per dollar. The body was professionally refinished about 10 years ago, and all of the metalwork is professionally done with a seamless blend of old and new components. Starting with a California car makes a high-quality restoration a lot easier and the quality shows everywhere you look. Code 26 Mulsanne Blue is this car's original color, and when it was dry, accurate Z/28 stripes were added along with the proper badges and rear spoiler to make it look right. It's obviously got some age and mileage on it today, but this is the kind of car that still draws a lot of attention at the local cruise nights, especially with guys who know how rare this combination actually is. And yes, it's a real RS, so up front you'll find a correct blacked-out grille flanked by stylish bumperettes, while out back four round taillights make the second-generation Camaro instantly recognizable from a distance. The interior is every bit as nice as the exterior and quite accurate throughout. The second-generation cars got a nice boost in the quality of materials and the handsome textured code 715 blue bucket seats look a lot more expensive than you'd expect in a Camaro. The front buckets have been fitted with new covers, which match the door panels perfectly, while the rear seat appears to be original and in good shape. If we had to guess, we'd say that the carpets are newer, mostly because they look too good to be 47 years old, but then again, this is a west coast car. The handsome wrap-around instrument panel is a correct Z/28 piece with a faux burled walnut face and the original gauges are still operational. There are no major deviations from stock and even the original AM radio is still in the dash! The 4-speed manual shifter is sticking right out of the transmission tunnel, so you know this Camaro is about function as much as form and the trunk is correctly detailed with a matching spare tire and a replacement mat.The engine appears to be a code CE 350 cubic inch V8, which suggests that it was a factory replacement block. It was rebuilt to Z/28 specifications and definitely pulls the relatively lightweight F-body around with authority. The engine bay is detailed to look stock, including Chevy Orange paint on the engine, a dual snorkel air cleaner with reproduction decals, and even a set of correct Z/28 exhaust manifolds, which were unique to this engine. Thanks to a big Holley 4-barrel carburetor, it starts quickly and runs beautifully, which shouldn't be a surprise and you'll never get tired of the way this high-revving small block sounds at full song. A snarling dual exhaust system with Flowmaster mufflers sounds just right, and there's a 12-bolt rear end, which is factory-issue, more proof that this is a real Z.
