1971 Chevrolet Chevelle SS

For this year 9,502 models equipped with the Z15 SS-454 equipment and it's estimated that only 36 of those were convertible. This car is a numbers matching Chevelle SS 454 (LS-5) convertible in red with black leather interior and black band-aid stripes with an M-22 4-spd transmission. Documentation includes Protecto plate and delivery jacket. Fully restored using NOS parts approximately 20 years ago and stored covered, in a climate controlled storage since.
Mechanical: The car has an LS-5 motor that has been built to output 500hp and 510 ft-lbs of torque. The engine has Edlebrock performer RPM intake manifold and heads. The build utilized roller hydraulic lifters and roller rocker arms with a Crane camshaft. Engine machining includes boring 20 over, balanced, blueprinted, ported and polished heads. Fuel is delivered by a custom Barry Grant carburator. Exhaust system consists of ceramic-coated Hooker headers and a full stainless steel exhaust. The car originally came equipped with the N10 dual exhaust package.
Drive train is composed of a fully rebuilt 4-speed, M-22 "Rock-crusher" transmission and H05 3.73 and G80 positraction rear end. The car originally came with M01 heavy-duty clutch; it is currently running a centerforce clutch.Suspension is equipped with the original F41 front and rear suspension package; rear suspension is an aftermarket Hotchkis setup. Breaking is handled by JL2 front discs with drum rear brakes. Additionally, the SS is outfitted with the N41 power steering package.
Body: The body is in perfect condition. No rust and an excellent paint job. The car came with ZL2 special hood with cowl induction and functional hood lock pins; the cowl induction is fully functional.Car is equipped with the optional C06 convertible top and has been completely rebuilt and recovered. Glass is A01 soft ray tinted glass. Interior was completely restored. Seats are the original A81 option with head rests and bucket seats with the A49 custom deluxe seat belts with retractors. Interior includes the optional D55 console and U14 instrumentation package which includes a tachometer and clock. Originally the car had the U96 AM/FM radio with buttons. The radio is not installed at the moment. The car has the original ZJ7 Rally wheels with Goodyear polyglots F40 tires with raised white letters.
This vehicle has been in my Uncle's private collection for over 10 years. It has rarely been driven, kept on a lift and covered in a climate-controlled garage. You will not find another like it for sale. Contact me for a video of the SS running. 936-five37-0860 Neal.
