Description:

1968 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible w/hard top

I have owned this Corvette (nicknamed "Prince" for obvious reasons) for the past 4 years. It has been modified since its original assembly on November 25, 1967. Based on information received from the previous owner, the car was manufactured with the legendary L71, 427ci, 435hp tri-power engine. Somewhere along the line, that engine was replaced with a 327ci engine, although the big block hood still remains as a reminder of its former years. The amazing Purple Pearl exterior color is obviously not from the factory either. The car was originally Tuxedo Black, the rarest color of this production year (only 708 produced.) The black side-pipes are also after-market, adding an aggressive, yet subtle statement. It does, however, retain its factory 4-speed manual transmission, manual brakes and manual steering.

In 2010 the following was submitted to the C3 Corvette Registry, by the previous owner:"JUST SHORT OF BODY OFF RESTORATION. NEW SS BRAKE LINES, NEW SS BRAKE CALIPERS, COMPLETE NEW WIRING, NEW VACUUM LINES AND CANISTER, NEW DOOR PANELS, DASH, CARPET, INSULATION NEW TIRES ENGINE HAS LESS THAN 1,000 MILES. ALL SUSPENSION BUSHINGS REPLACED. NEW SHOCKS. ALL NEW U-JOINTS. NUMBERS DO NOT MATCH. ORIGINAL ENGINE WAS 427. NEW FOAM IN SEATS. SEATS HAVE NEW VINYL. Built date is D24."

This Corvette Convertible is an attention-getter and is extremely fun to drive. It has been 7 years since its restoration, and it is not a show car. The car's purple pearly paint may have some minor chips/scratches, but is still stunning, with a lustrous shine. The chrome shows well and the rally wheels have a nice finish. The soft top is in good condition, and may not have been up more than a couple of times since being replaced. The hard top is painted purple, to match the car.Radial raised white letter tires show good tread depth remaining.

The interior of this 1968 Corvette Convertible shows very good condition seats, carpet, seat belts, dash pad, and center console. There is a gap between the console and the dash and the original steering wheel has a crack at 6:00(see photos). A working "Corvette" AM/FM stereo w/cassette is installed. The engine looks clean and tidy, with the matching aluminum air cleaner and valve covers, and is not leaking any fluids. The side pipes have a protective shield to prevent leg burns when climbing out of the car (and, fortunately they work well!) The frame is solid and rust-free.

This car has been recently serviced, and lights, fiber optics, wipers, headlight doors, horn, brakes, engine, transmission and rear-end are all in operating condition. The turn signal arm has some "play," but it works and cancels as it should. Instrument gauges are operational with the exception of the odometer and clock.
