Okay,...let me first say that this may be the best Chevelle I've ever driven,...and I've driven plenty of the last 25 years in this business.
This SS is very very tight,...it has outstanding road manners and runs like a thief!
I just did a fast count from zero to 60,....I was there in about 5 seconds,....this thing will snap your head back,...it sounds amazing and performance is the highlight of the car. It's only fast when you want it to be,..low power levels of driving are smooth, crisp and tame.
It's a color change, ( Was Red from the Factory ) and it's a non numbers matching 396, Tonawanda Build,..Engine # T0310JQ.
Now,..all that aside,...here's my take on a simply awesome Chevelle SS 138 car.
The Exterior.
Glossy paint on all exterior panels. Painted hood moniker stripes,...excellent reflective qualities everywhere you look. This is a professional paint job,...you can't tell it was red. The Chrome and stainless trim are excellent as well,...nothing needed to make any better. This is a High Quality Driver Car that is on the verge of being too nice to drive.
You'd be pissed if someone knicked or dinged it. Public Parking will relegate you to walk the distance of the parking lot,...it's way too nice to park side by side with the normal cars.
The street stance is great,..it sits square,..has a nice rake to it and all who see it in passing gawk at it....this is one handsome Chevelle.
On the 10 scale,...it's a 8.5 to a 9.
The Interior.
Same way in here. Very well tailored seating, rugs and headliner. The door panels are tight,...everything is full color,...it's extremely clean and comfortable in here.
The Clock works,..the radio is the Classic Sound digital,..it even sounds good.
I personally like the Performance Pad Steering Wheel,...it has tilt wheel for all driving types.
The Dash is clean,..the dome light even works....this is a very nice place to be seen.
The Engine & Transmission.
Excellent engine bay detail,...so not only does it run....but it looks good doing it.
The 396 fires with the flick of the key. Muscle Car Sound emanates from the exhaust,...you instantly smile. Put the car in gear,...and let it rip.
One of the photos is of my burnout,...that was effortless and easy to do without stressing anything....once I was done,...she kicked down to a smooth idle and didn't miss a beat.
There are few Muscle Cars tuned this well.....everything about the tuning is flawless. I'd go on to say that you could take the best GM Mechanical Engineer and see if he could build a 396 motor any better,...I'd bet not.
The tranny hits in crisp, smooth fashion,...there is not one single thing to gripe about as it relates to the PERFORMANCE aspect of this SS,..or the way it drives.
We're only 10 minutes from the St. Louis Airport,...buy a One Way ticket and drive it home no matter the distance. Lets say you live on the East Coast,..fly in,...go to California 1st,...then head back home. This car is amazing,...fast, confident and a blast to drive.
There is nothing you can do to make it more reliable,...more fun or more rewarding to drive....you'll love the car.
The Undercarriage.
Excellent sheet metal,...solid frame & floors. Painted nicely,...good lookin underneath,...well protected,...clean. Nice & Complete trunk,...solid,..spare & jack included.
The Final Word.
There's no such thing as a perfect car,..this one included. BUT...when it comes to cars that you can drive,...and that drive this well,...any flaws this car may have are un-important and too small to focus on.
Please expect a car that will match your premium image,...and one so nice that you'll leave your garage door open for the neighbors to see it.
This car will turn back your age Clock,...to a better time in America.
Onthe "High Quality" Driver Scale...it's an 8 to a 9.
