1970 Chevrolet 4x4 CST Fleetside Shortbed pickup.
Man oh man, when it comes to classic trucks, you just KNOW that I always find the coolest looking, best driving, and cleanest machines on the road. This incredible 1970 Chevy Shortbed Fleetside 4x4 is no exception to that formula, and is ready for a lucky new owner!
This truck was built about 4 years ago, according to the previous owner and his notes and recollection, and was done in Central, FL by two Chevrolet dealership service employees for the store owner’s son. Upon completion of the truck, the son decided that a new truck was more to his liking, so they sold it to the gentleman I bought it from. He drove it sparingly, putting just over 1,100 miles on it to local shows during season, and I have personally put the remaining 300 odd miles on it myself driving it all over Southwest Florida!
The truck is a very nice, very straight, and very clean pickup that you can jump in and drive anywhere without worry, and I have had it on both freeway and local runs and had zero issues to address in my time with it.

The truck has a super straight and solid body that is all REAL STEEL, not cheap replacement panels, bondo, chicken wire, or any other poor substitute.
The paint was done in PPG Deltron 2000 and is 3794 GM BRIGHT RED with 4289 OXFORD WHITE from the PPG catalog. It is glossy, slick, and shiny from every angle, and shows wonderfully in any light.
There are only a handful or so little marks and blemishes from being driven and used, like a stone chip or light scuff, and as you can see in the 100 EXTRA-LARGE photos provided, nothing that detracts from the overall appearance and presentation.
The worst mark on the truck is on the driver side lower front fender dog leg, where the paint finish has bubbled lightly. I have stuck a needle into the bubble and it comes out clean and does not crack. The area behind it is accessible and is solid and clean metal. It does not appear to be rust or rot, but perhaps solvent that was caught and painted over in that area. It is about the size of a silver dollar or less, and has been the same size for over two years.
Every other panel on the truck is issue free and incredibly straight, including rockers, cab corners, rain gutters, cowl panel, and everything else. Solid, REAL original steel that is in exceptional condition.
Panel fit, gaps, and alignment is really good all around, and everything opens and shuts like it should without any drama.
Door locks work, and the including round keys lock and unlock it from both exterior key holes.
Trim and bright work on the truck is in amazing condition, and looks fantastic on the truck! Side upper/lower trim, grill, headlight tins, chrome front and rear bumpers, chrome mirror stems with polished mirrors, chrome door handles, aluminum fuel cap, and anodized wiper arms are all in very good condition all around, and show beautifully.
All of the emblems on the truck are in great original condition, with just slight aging evident for authenticity, and no damage or fit issues.
The headlights, marker lights, turn signals, and rear lamps are all new, and all function as they should.
Rubber trim and weather stripping on the truck is just a few years old, still shows wonderfully, and is soft and pliable to the touch.
It rides on 15 INCH steel Rallye wheels with trim rings and centers that are wrapped in FALKEN WILD PEAK A/T tires sized 33x12.50R15LT with just over 1,400 miles on them since new.
Locking WARN hubs up front make for solid and sure engagement of the four wheel drive system, and the 4wd works and functions as it should as measure by engaging it in the grassy lot next door and driving it around a bit. The original owner, 2nd owner, and myself have NOT taken the truck off-road or used it in mudding or other activities. It has been only used on the road for the past 1,400 miles.
Chassis is clean and neat, but it built to drive, so it does show marks from road debris, dirt, grime, and anything else you would expect to see on a vehicle that has been driven.
Front and rear suspension consists of leaf springs and shocks, and the truck has a body lift and suspension lift of undetermined height. Looks like about 3-4 inches total perhaps?
Ride quality is amazing, and the truck feels like a much newer pickup riding down the road, handling bumps without jarring the passengers and maintaining a smooth ride without wallowing back and forth.
Handling is spot on, thanks to power steering and a steering stabilizer system which keeps the truck focused on going where you aim it, without catching and pulling on road ruts and pot holes.
Braking is solid and sure, and the front disc/ rear drum power brakes bring the truck down from speed without any pulling, jabbing, wander, or excessive fade.
Dual exhaust is clean and sounds fantastic, with a nice rumble, but not so loud that it bothers you in the cab of the truck.
Frame and suspension components are clean and neat, but this truck has not been formallydetailed so imagine how nice it will look when you pressure wash the chassis and wipe off the exposed components?
The front and rear chrome pumpkin covers are showing surface oxidation and patina, but are fully functional and leak free.
There is a REESE style box hitch intact with a flat connector. I did not text it to see if it works, as I do not have a plug on my trailers for that style. The prior owner said he never used it, and it was on the truck when it was built/restored.
Engine and transmission show very clean and neat from the underside, with no signs of oil or trans fluid, gunk, or blow back evident.
The engine itself is a crate 350ci GM block with pad ID 2M0102 7VP and is equipped with an Edelbrock Performer intake, 600cfm Edelbrock carb, Edelbrock E-STREET aluminum heads, polished valve covers, chrome air cleaner breather, headers, and more.
It is a clean running, smooth performing engine with enough power to chirp the tires if you want to too, but no radical cams or anything that requires constant maintenance and adjustment.
It starts easily, idles cleanly, has a functional choke that kicks down when it is supposed to, and has that lovely solid lifter sound that reminds you of a sewing machine.
Snick the 350 turbo transmission into gear, and the truck is ready to roll wherever you want to go.
Transmission is stock and shifts smoothly and easily up and down in gear, without jerking your passenger.
The truck is geared for in-town and local highway travel in that 55-60mph range, but I have taken it on a short stint exit to exit on the freeway at a GPS verified 75mph, although you would want to swap gears to do that full time. I do NOT know the current gearing.
Speedo is 20mph slow compared to GPS. I imagine a new plastic gear for it would let it read correctly.
Around town, it has plenty of power, and will go red light to red light with the best of them!
It runs VERY cool, and has never even come CLOSE to getting hot during my time with it. I drove it to a show on the beach last week, and got caught in 40 minutes of stop and go traffic in 88 degree weather without any issues, and that was with the A/C on full crank! I thank the hi-flow water pump, new radiator, large mechanical fan with shroud, and new hoses for that.
The A/C is a complete R134A system using the factory controls and factory dash vents, but it is upgraded with a new compressor, condenser, evaporator, and lines which makes it icy cold! Heat and defrost functions work as well.
I have personally put just about 286 miles on the truck driving it locally, and I find it to be a blast to drive. It steers and stops so easily that anyone in the family will feel comfortable behind the wheel, and everything works just as it should.
Inside the truck, everything is clean, neat, and shows great.
New fuel tank is in great condition.
New gauge insert panel houses functional gauges for BATTERY, TEMP, FUEL, OIL along with a center TACHOMETER and function SPEEDOMETER with and odometer that was set at zero when the truck was first built, and now shows 1,400miles.
Dash pad cap is in great shape, and dash itself is painted to match in Bright Red PPG, with matching door panel trim in white.
Glove box opens and closes as it should and has a full cardboard liner.
A functional 12V cigar lighter port sits to the right of the A/C and heat control panel, and the ignition switch is on the left.
A working ashtray is above it, and the stock radio has been replaced by a modern Pioneer AM /FM CD MP3 audio system that sounds great through the two kick mounted speakers and single dash speaker.
Factory tilt column works like it should, and retains the factory turn signal stalk and shift arm. It is topped with a later model GM two spoke steering wheel with CHEVY adornment and a slight tear in the foam rubber edge on the top left corner.
Carpeting is like new, and is custom cut to the truck and installed over sound and heat proofing insulation. It is protected by two heavy duty rubber floor mats that come with the truck.
4wd gear selector works as it should, and has a red rubber cover, black boot, and billet handle for looks.
The red and black upholstery on the seat is like new, and shows wonderfully. It is a very comfortable seat with room for three and has seat belts as well, which are not shown in the photo.
Door panels are painted and clean, with functional door pulls, window rollers, and armrest pads.
Sliding rear window was added for ventilation and access to the bed, and it works and seals perfectly.
Windows go up and down with ease, vent windows open and seal as they should, and all the fuzzies, scrapers, and weather strip are in great shape.
Glass is in great condition, with no cracks, chips, damage, or discoloration.
Rear view mirror works as it should, and it comes with dual sun visors too.
The bed of the truck is solid and clean, and only the floor was hit with a VERY, VERY light coat of protectant so it could be used to slide things in and out. You can clearly see the metal is all solid and nice and rust/rot free, and the sides only have a couple little marks and stuff on them from being used as a (GASP) truck bed.
Tail gate opens and closes perfectly, and shows like new.
