Description:

1968 Chevrolet Caprice 2 dr coupe

1968 Chevrolet Caprice. Original 327 275 HP V8 powerglide automatic car. Has the rare hideaway headlight option. Also has 6 way power strato bench seat. C60 a/c, rear defrost. The car is in pretty rough condition. It will need floor pans, trunk pans and quarter panel work if you want to go that far with it. The frame seems to be very solid. There is a piece of angle iron welded to the rear crossmember for a make shift trailer hitch. Previous owner had gone thru the brakes, wheel bearings and put shocks on it. It has the original powerglide still in it. The engine is matching number original and has been disassembled. Block was tanked and magnafluxed and is good. Will need to be bored .030 over. Nice seasoned block. The rear end is a 10 bolt and if I remember right it is a posi. I can double check that if it's important to you. Don't remember the ratio. The interior is shot. Roof skin looks fine but the visor area underneath has some rust repair needed. I have a salvaged donor section for that in the trunk. Glass all looks okay. Ralley wheels are 15x7's. Tires are junk. I believe all of the hideaway parts are there and the core support seems fine rust wise. For the most part everything is compete but there are some parts missing...such as: radator, rh exhaust manifold, one valve cover, rear seat, some dash trim, radio, carb, and probably some stuff I've forgotten.
I original bought this for the hideaway parts. After having it for a while I couldn't bring myself to part it out. It's very rusty body wise but has a cool patina look going. I was going to leave the body, repair the floors and convert it to a big block 4 speed car. Well, that was over 5 years ago and I haven't gotten to it yet and with other projects ahead of this one I thought I'd see if anyone was looking for a challenge. Or, buy it for the hideaways and part it...that would be up to you the buyer.
So I'm sure there are things I forgot to mention so if you have questions either email through eBay or if you prefer call me. 612-816-1502 8 am to 8 pm central time. If you want to inspect the car you are more than welcome...just let me know to set something up. Need more pics...just ask.
This is a no reserve auction. No buy it now. Auction will run the full length. Winning buyer will need to make a $500 deposit within 48 hours of auction end. Full payment at time of pickup. Clear Wisconsin title in my name. I can store the car for awhile if needed but not forever. Payment in that case would need to be made in full within 7 days.
