1955 Chevrolet Bel Air/150/210 525

Originally found and purchased in good condition from a gentleman in Kentucky, this stunning 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air Convertible was brought back home to North Carolina where it underwent a five year restoration that began in 2006. This VC 1067D code V-8 Bel Air convertible was originally built in Baltimore, MD with an original exterior color of Gypsy Red and Red and Beige interior as confirmed by its 525 Trim and 596 paint codes. A decision to change the original exterior color had been made and a ten mile deep coat of Onyx Black was laid down over its smooth, straight body panels. A custom touch to the rear was employed with the use of a bumper from a 55 wagon; moving the license tag from the trunk lid to the bumper. With beautifully polished stainless steel trim, and its glowing chromed grille, hood ornament and staggered Coys custom wheels emboldens this exterior to a whole other level. A perfect juxtaposition of contrast was created with the installation of supple red vinyl over a set of comfortable low back bucket seats split by an ingenious low-profile console that contains a set of six and a half-inch speakers and provides stereo sound to the rear. A black-faced Classic Instruments dash cluster with white markings creates a high-contrast balance against the glossy black dash stainless bow-tie trim. Vintage Air and Heat makes for much more comfortable year round cruising as does power front disc brakes, seats, steering and convertible top. Nestled between its matte black inner fenders is an aluminum fuel-injected LS1 Corvette mill with a hand made aluminum performance radiator, stainless steel headers and Paul Powell Performance tune that makes around four hundred horses. A 4L60E four-speed automatic transmission provides smooth and effortless shifts to a ten bolt 3:73 rear end for great highway cruising potential. Underneath all this rolling eye candy, the traditional front coil/ rear spring suspension was rebuilt and its stance enhanced with a two inch spindle drop.
