OK, right off the bat I want to say that if you are looking for flawless, perfect, and impeccable, stop reading and move on to the $50K and up trucks.
HOWEVER, if you want a well-built, proven and capable driver that is clean enough to take to the big shows, cool enough to take to the shadiest parts of town, and reliable enough to take anywhere, this is the one for you.
This truck comes with a whole bunch of extras that the previous owner never got to install too, like a BRAND NEW IN THE BOX chrome steering column with tilt, BRAND NEW IN THE BOX Dakota digital gauge insert panel, and more! PLUS, you get touch up paint for both colors AND the paint codes to make more!
The truck is a 5 footer, and when you’re cruising it down the road, EVERYONE will check it out and give you a thumbs up! It shows glossy and slick like you see in the photos, and really looks good even right up close sans the blemishes I am about to cover. Up close, you WILL SEE FLAWS IN THE FINISH! It was done two years ago, and has been driven and used, and has chips, tiny dings, a few scuffs, and some spots where prior repairs are showing.
Worst of it is the driver side lower rocker where it has cracked and split, and the bottom rear of that door which has cracked as well, and has a small triangle that has chipped out.
Drip rails have light signs of issues, but are solid underneath and on the lip.
Front fenders are really solid and nice.
Roof is really solid and nice.
Passenger door is really solid and nice.
Bed and tail gate are really solid and nice, and has light fill around the wheel lips which is solid and clean looking.
Chrome bumpers front and rear are in excellent condition.
New tail lights work perfect.
Headlamps work perfectly too, and a brand new set of Union Pacific LED headlamps are included as well!
Chrome grill looks amazing, as do the mirrors on each side.
Door handles are in great shape!
Parking lamp bezels are new, and the wiper arms look like they might be too.
Side trim is in fantastic condition, and has only a few minor marks.
Emblems are in great condition.
Black PC wheels are in excellent condition, and have new baby moon caps all around. They are wrapped in new American Classic white wall radials size P205/75R15 all the way around with less than 1,000 miles on them.
Side glass and vent windows are crack and chip free, and looks original to the truck.
Rear glass is crack and chip free, and has light markings on it from certain angles.
Windshield is solid and clean, but does have three chips in it.
Weather seals on the windshield and back window are in great condition, soft, and not damaged.
The bed wood on the raised floor in the bed is purposefully aged, but is solid enough to stand and walk on without issue.
Relocated fuel tank cover was hit with pool acid to age it a little too, as were the stainless bolts holding the stainless slats down.
Pop open the hood and you see a clean, finished, and painted engine bay with normal signs of use. It isn’t perfect looking, but you can pop open the hood with pride at any car show.
Chrome power brake booster looks great.
A 355ci Chevy V8 is a mild build intended for daily driving and reliability. It’ll still spin the rear tires if you want to, but is more suited for cruising.
Black valve covers and air cleaner with the Chevrolet logo in red look good, as does the chrome alternator.
Hoses and lines are clean, and mostly new in appearance.
Wiring is clean and neat and carefully loomed.
Radiator is a NOS replacement with hi-flow water pump and big shroud to keep things cool on hot days.
A 350 Turbo transmission is a stock build, and shifts smooth and clean through all gears.
Power steering makes it easy for anyone to drive! The tire clear the fenders all the way to the ground too.
Front DISC/Rear DRUM brakes stop the truck easily, and were recent additions.
Chassis is painted black, and is not show quality or anything. Just functional.
C-Notch looks good, and the truck has airbags on each corner, with shocks that were selected for the drop to give good ride quality at any height.
You cannot drive it in the all the way down position. You have to bring it up about 1.75” higher than the ground to drive safely.
The air ride system has a compressor on its own switch that you turn on under the dash. It fills in about 50 seconds, and the truck is ready to go up or down with ease.
Dash mounted switchgear provides front up/down and rear/up down. What more do you need?
It goes from the ground to full up position in about 1.5 seconds, and drops in about 2. It is fast. Nice when you hit a red light because you can slam it on the ground and air it back up in an instant.
Bags stay inflated, and I parked it with them fully inflated overnight, and they were fully inflated the next morning.
No listing or awkwardness, just full front up and down, and full rear up and down.
Underside is clean and free of thick goopy cover up spray most people use, so you can see the new parts on the suspension and body mounts and stuff.
Bed floor was hacked to pieces to make room for the notch, and the wood raised floor over it is solid enough to hold my 260 lbs without issue. It might not be pretty, but it is safe and functional.
Interior was started and is not far from completion, plus, most of the big stuff comes with it!
Red and white vintage style upholstery on the seats and door panels is free from rips, tears, seam pulls and damage. It is DIRTY from being driven and used, but it will clean up. We do not do full details on our cars so you can see how they came. I took a damp towel to the side of the seat where it is white, and it cleaned right up as you can see in the pics. A little elbow grease and time and you’ll be Aces and Eights.
Driver side has good looking and function door pull and window roller, and the driver side were removed to be replaced, but lost. It now has a multi-function vice grip in place to use on each of the driver functions. You can grab new ones from 100 places on line for cheap.
Carpet was newly installed, and is clean, stain, and tear free. It is NOS style from LMC. It is held down on each side by bright and shiny sill plates.
Stock style brake and gas pedals.
80’s style GM tilt column is clean, and has function tilt. It has a S10 style steering wheel that looks great and has no issues.
Dash top is clean and undamaged.
Dash front is clean, and has a functional glove box, cut out where the modern style radio was planned to go, and cut outs for A/C vents that were planned as well.
Dual 12V outlets are in place.
Headlight and wiper switches are in stock location.
Gauge cluster in the truck is decent looking, and would just need hooked up I guess, but the prior owner included a BRAND NEW DAKOTA DIGITAL CLUSTER he was going to customize it with, and all of the senders too.
Interior roof and back are painted in red, and there are no upholstered kick panels or anything included.
Dome light cover is missing.
Not much left to do on the interior, and you can drive and enjoy it while you finish it up to your taste.
Inner doors, inner rockers, hinge area, and door surrounds are all clean and solid, and the doors shut clean and easy and seal up good thanks to newer weather stripping on both sides.
It starts easily, idles cleanly, doesn’t smoke, and hasn’t left a mark on the shop floor since I got it.
I have driven it about 30 miles, and it is a killer around town cruiser that will give you the confidence to drive it anywhere.
If you want a freeway flyer, you will need a gear change, as the GM 10 bolt feels like it has 3.73’s or so in it, and prefers to hang out at 55mph, not 75.
It handles great, and I have driven it at speed in the normal ride height, and full up with equal success and no issues. Ride is just a lot better aired down a little.
Braking is solid and sure, and after 10 minutes behind the wheel, you’ll forget you’re driving a bagged truck.
