Description:
1966 Chevrolet Impala
1966 Impala Hot Rod that is fun to drive and garners attention (some good, some bad as it's kinda loud and little old ladies give that "Why?" look) everywhere it goes. Plenty of pictures (Ebay only let me put up 24..) and two videos (one walk around, one driving) shown. I am not a mechanic, so all the work I have had done has been completed by a mechanic who has owned his shop for 25+ years. The plan was to get the mechanical areas completed first (done) so the car was road worthy and the mrs would agree to ride in it (done), then get the car painted this fall, and next spring get the inside finished. I bought this car right here off Ebay back in 11/2013 out of Kentucky. The prior owner used rustoleum flat black paint to paint over the burgundy (original color I believe) paint. To be honest, it looked actually decent when I bought it. It has been parked in my garage when not driven. Not long after purchasing it & proudly driving it to the DMV to get everything finalized, the motor (350 also) over heated and went on strike. During my two mile walk back to my house, I decided that walk was not going to happen again. So after that motor and myself couldn't work out our indifferences, a Jasper 350 engine was bought (from Jasper Engines) and installed. There is still over a one year warranty left on the motor that will be transferred to the buyer. I have drove the car less than 600 miles since install.I am listing the car on here for one week only, no relisting. Below is the work I have had completed. Once again, I am not a mechanic but will attempt to best describe what I have had done to the car. The reasons I am offering the car up for sale is because I have 3 other vehicles and I honestly want to look for a 1972 GMC Truck. My dad had one when I was a kid and offered it to me when I turned 16. Being a kid, I told him no thanks (all the cool kids had mustangs & camaros) and he sold it. I was a fool! If the car doesn't sell, then I will follow through with my original plan to finish the car and simply keep it.
Jasper 350 V8 Engine (2014): I don't know the horse power or torque. I have driven the car many times down the highway at 70 with no issues and other than that, just cruised around a few local counties in Southern Indiana the last couple years.Radiator (2014): Original was replaced with upgraded unit with fans. I overbought on the radiator because of that 2 mile walk. I have never seen the car warm over 190 degrees, even last month in August when our Southern Indiana heat was at it's finest.Fuel Tank (2014): New fuel tank/sending unit. It gets the gas to your pedal fine.Brakes(2014): It has drums all the way around. They work for me because I don't drive it in the rain or race from stop light to stop light. The brake system has been gone through and any issues fixed. The brakes were the first thing I had fixed on the car as the pedal rested on the floor..Holley Carb (2015): Old one was an import that just didn't get the job done.Lights: All exterior lights work (including brights). The dash lights don't work (Fuse or dirty switch? I don't drive it at night) The turn signal lights work on the dash. Gas guage, speedo, ect work. Clock does not.Other little things here and there. I have spent over $5k on mechanical repairs getting/fixing this car to the point where I can drive it anywhere and not have to worry about that long walk back home again. It's a 50 year old car and drives like a 50 year old car. But it's dependable and doesn't drink alot of gas.
Some things it needs, that I am aware of/would resolve if it doesn't sell:1.) The vents/defrost don't work, but the fan can be heard running. I don't know if the vent hose(s) is connected.2.) The door gaskets/weather stripping are not on, but I am including new ones that I have bought. I haven't installed because I was planning on painting the car.3.) Paint / Prep Work. I have drove the car as it is for a couple years now. Anytime I get gas, everyone asks me if I plan on leaving it black/flat black. You can see on the back panels, I have sprayed two different colors of black. This is the plasti dip stuff and can be peeled off. There are a couple of spots on the car where the paint is cracked and one or two (near the mirrors for example) where little bubble are. Currently, I feel the car has character (or viewed as ugly to some) with the paint. But this car would really catch the eyes if it was painted! Review pictures/videos for any other possibly needed body work (I don't know much about bodywork / painting a car).4.) Rear window. there is currently no chrome trim on the rear window. Prior owner had them (they were bad shape) and I never put them back on. Figured I would buy a new set when it came time to paint.5.) No headliner. I have put various decals / metal signs up there on the metal. I dig it, but if you don't, you will need a headliner.6.) Hood. The hood has a hole in it (passenger side) that I tell everyone was from a bullet (maybe it was?) Though it works for now, you can hear the hood "rattle" when you hit a larger bump in the road. Not very loud, but it does kinda annoy me. (you may be able to hear it in the video)7.) Dash. Has crack in the middle. I bought a dash cover, so for me, problem solved.8.) Driver's door panel. I took the bottom piece off (included). If you finish the interior, you will want to replace both panels obviously.9.) Seat covers. Currently old and torn. The original vinyl underneath appears to be ok from what I can tell.10.) Some chrome has pitting. It add character for the time being.
I have sold many things on Ebay, from small collectibles to massive bullet proof bank teller windows. Every time, I have tried to be as honest and descriptive as possible. With this impala, I am doing the same. I have no idea what the car is worth or what it could be worth when finished, so I am starting auction at $6,000. You don't see many 66-69 impalas at car shows, I don't know why. I think they have great lines and plenty of room. I am 6'0 tall/260 lbs and can comfortably cruise in this. It sits low and would look really great if bagged. I would not have any guilt selling this to a friend or family member. Though, please remember that this is a 50 year old car. With that said, I have no regrets from buying the car and have enjoyed the time with it. Any questions, please let me know and I will try to answer best of my ability.
I have uploaded two videos. (Copy/paste)First is a walk around while the car is running.https://youtu.be/J_Cr07bjuco
Second is driving the car a couple of miles around back roads and then on highway. http://youtu.be/NoQNhJC_otg
Terms: $500 non refundable deposit via paypal within 24 hours after auction's end or I consider the transaction/bid fraudulent and void the purchase. Cash upon pickup or cashiers check. Full payment due within 7 days. CashiersCheck clears my bank before vehicle/title leaves my possession. I don't have a problem having vehicle ready for your shipper (remember, car sits low) with 2 day advance notice, but only after payment has cleared. I don't mind holding vehicle for a couple weeks after payment has cleared, but request car be picked up by 10/15/2016. Title is clear and in my name. Please review the pictures and videos to ensure you know what you are bidding on. I have been as honest as possible, but no warranty is implied, as this is a 50 year old vehicle and being sold as-is. Thank you for your interest.
