USED ON A FARM IN DANVERS MNSINCE NEW, PURCHASED IN 2012, AND HAVE SPENT THOUSANDS RECONDITIONING THIS TRUCK.

BODY

TRUCK WAS SOLID, BUT DID HAVE RUST, I HAVE REPLACED AND REPAIRED ALL OF THE SUSPECT SHEET METAL, BODY BRACES AND ALL AREAS THAT NEEDED ATTENTION, WITH NEW METAL.TOOK TRUCK TO BARE METAL AND REPAINTED ORIGINAL TURQUOISE METALLIC POLY. PAINT IS VERY PRESENTABLE, BUT IN NO MEANS SHOW QUALITY, ROCKERS, CAB CORNERS, FENDER PANELS WERE REPLACED WITH NEW SHEET METAL PANELS.BOX WAS REMOVED, FRAME WAS SANDBLASTED AND BOX WOOD WAS REPLACED WITH 3/4 INCH PLYWOOD USING 3 FACTORY STRIPS. TAILGATE HARDWARE WAS REPLACED, NEW CHAINS AND TRUNION BOLTS.ORIGINAL REAR BUMPER BLASTED AND REPAINTED SILVER.

INTERIOR

REPAINTED THE INTERIOR WITH EXCEPTION OF THE DASH, WITH ORIGINAL MEDIUM FAWN METALLIC PAINT. REPLACED SEAT WITH RECOVERED, REBUILT SEAT. ALL ORIGINAL UNCUT DASH, WITH FACTORY AM RADIO, HEATER AND ALL FACTORY CORRECT SWITCHES AND KNOBS. LEFT THE ORIGINAL 4 WHEEL DRIVE SHIFT PATTERN STICKERS ON HEADER, INSATLLED NEW DRIVER VISOR, AND REPLACED INNER GLOVE BOX. INSTALLED 2 NEW REPRODUCTION CHEVROLET SEAT BELTS. FLOOR MAT IS A POLYVINYL REPLACEMENT MAT, THAT DOES NOT FIT WELL, AND RECOMMEND REPLACING. AWAITING THE ORIGINAL FACTORY MATS TO BE REPRODUCED, AS THEY HAVE BEEN BACKORDERED FOR MONTHS...

REPLACED WINDSHIELD AND WINDSHIELD RUBBER. DOOR OPENING RUBBER WAS REPLACED, NEW SILL PLATES INSTALLED. ALL GLASS IS GOOD. WINDOW CHANNEL FELT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED.

MECHANICAL

ORIGINALLY INTENDED TO GET THIS TRUCK RUNNING, DRIVING AND STOPPING AS NEW. I REPLACED THE FUEL TANK, FUEL LINES AND REBUILT CARB. ADJUSTED VALVES, DID COMPLETE TUNE UP AND SET TIMING, DWELL AND IDLE. ONCE RUNNING I NOTICED CLUTCH SLIPPAGE SO I REPLACED CLUTCH, THROW OUT BEARING, AND RESURFACED FLYWHEEL. NEXT, ALL NEW BRAKES, INCLUDING NEW BRAKE LINES WHERE NEEDED,DRUMS, SHOES, WHEEL CYLINDERS, MASTER CYLINDER, AND HARDWARE KITS,LUBRICATED E BRAKE AND ADJUSTED ALL 4 CORNERS. REPLACED ALL FRONT BEARINGS IN FRONT AXLES, NEW AXLE SEALS AND REPLACED ALL OLD RAWHIDE FRONT KNUCKLE SEALS WITH NEW NEOPREME SEALS. REPLACED REAR AXLE SEALS AND, CHANGED GEAR LUBE IN BOTH DIFFERENTIALS, TRANSFER CASE AND TRANSMISSION. REPLACED WATER PUMP, THERMOSTAT, HEATER BLOWER MOTOR AND ALL HOSES AND BELTS. FRESH OIL CHANGE AND GREASED ALL ACCESSIBLE FITTINGS. COMPLETE EXHAUST REPLACED FROM MANIFOLD BACK, COMPLETELY STOCK AS PER OLD WALKER/MARAMOUNT DIAGRAMS. DID NOT REPLACE SHOCKS, AS THEY LOOKED TO HAVE BEEN REPLACED BY PREVIOUS OWNER. 33X12.5X15 INCH TIRES ON CHEVY RALLY DEEP LUG WHEELS, WITH CORRECT CAPS AND RINGS. TIRES ARE USEABLE, BUT SHOWING WEAR. SPARE IS MOUNTED ON RALLY RIM, AND WILL SUFFICE.

STARTS RIGHT UP! NICE RUNNING TRUCK! THE 292 6 CYLINDER RUNS GREAT. NO SMOKE, AND VERYMINOR LEAKS. TRANSMISSION, DRIVE LINES AND RUNNING GEAR IS SOLID. TRANSFER CASE WILL HOWL AT HIGHER SPEED, AND TOP SPEED FOR THIS TRUCK IS 55. I HAVE ADJUSTED STEERING BOX, BUT STEERING IS A BIT LOOSE. WOULD RECCOMEND STEERING BOX REPLACEMENT OR REBUILD. (LARES CORP. IN CAMBRIDGE MN WILL REBUILD THESE BOXES FOR 295.00). ALL LIGHTS AND SIGNALS WORK, HEATER WORKS FANTASTIC (180 THERMO) WOULD CHANGE TO 160 IF DRIVING IN WARM CLIMATE. RADIO WORKS, GAS GUAGE IS INTERMITTANT.BODY IS SOLID, BUT NOT WITHOUT FLAWS... AGAIN, IT IS PRESENTABLE AND USEABLE, BUT CERTAINLY NOT A SHOW PIECE, ALTHOUGH GET USED TO PEOPLE STOPPING, WAVING AND GIVING YOU THUMBS UP EVERY SINGLE TIME YOU DRIVE IT!
