Description:

1968 Chevrolet Impala

Three-owner '68 Impala convertible, only 76K miles, very nice semi-professional restoration. (Owner did minor stuff, had pros do the paint & interior) One-year-only model, terrific value for the money, completely STOCK, no cheezy add-on accessories, wrong engine or other mods. Even still has the original hubcaps! Sold new in Iowa, stayed there awhile before coming to Colorado. We bought it from the third owner who has had it nearly twenty years and who had the restoration done. The body was taken off, the frame blasted& painted while the lower rear quarters had some metal repair and the car repainted in its original ButternutYellow. While that was going on, the entire interior was redonein theoriginal pattern--not JC Whitney covers. New carpets and new top, too. The original dash has not a single crack (!) All glass is very nice with no delamination and the power top works fine. Even the electric clock was rebuilt and works! The original307 V8 is smooth and quiet and was properly tuned up. The transmission was serviced with a new pump, filter and fluid, it has a new radiator core and exhaust as well. Front suspension is tight and solid-feeling, it steers well and rides nicely on near-new tires. Unlike some of these old girls, the tank isn't full of rust and the whole undercarriage isn't rotted away. Factory options were just the V8, automatic, power steering and AM-FM radio. Cruises great at 60-70 and the brakes are fine. During his ownership, the owner accumulated lots of spare parts, some NOS, specifically for the '68 and the trunk is full of boxes of that stuff. (that's why it squats a little in the rear in the photos)There's gotta be $1000 worth of stuff in there. The original packet of owner's books is even still in the glove box.How oftenare you going to find a restored, good running Chevy convertible for under twenty grand?!
